Great room, terrace and food
We stayed at the hotel for 4nights. We had a lovely room upstairs by the terrace. Shower is perfect. The rooms dont have fridges but the restaurant downstairs sells all drinks.
The breakfast is absolutely fresh . Staff is very friendly. We had dinner twice at the restaurant. The food was delicious.
I would definately recommend this place.

Lovely welcome; location not bad
This was our first Casa in Cuba, so we weren’t quite sure what to expect. It’s about 3 blocks south of the renovated area around the Plaza Vieja. Dropped outside by a taxi at lunchtime we wondered where on earth we had come to, but the area is perfectly OK (and of course fabulously atmospheric), even if it can feel a bit disconcerting after dark (remember: old Havana is very safe).
The lobby has been fabulously renovated: full marks for imagination (this is Cuba after all!). And the welcome is warm, making good use of limited English (Cuba again). Our room surprised us because there were no real windows, other than high up. But it’s internal to the building so it’s hard to see how else they could have done it. And in Havana you won’t be spending much time there! It’s simple and clean - very much in line with our experience later in other Casas.
Oh - and the breakfast. It’s served on a rooftop terrace, which is a delight in the cool of the early morning.

Unique and welcoming
After a 10 hour flight and a two hour plus drive from Varadero Airport to Havana, walking through the door into this beautiful property and being met with such warmth and friendliness was very welcome! The interior took our breath away with all the hanging plants and and foliage which was quite spectacular. Our room was cool and clean with a decent shower and comfy beds. The rooftop dining terrace was a wonderful spot to enjoy breakfast in the morning, (the bread is delicious!) and a lovely quiet place to enjoy a drink before heading out for the evening. Nothing was too much trouble for our lovely hosts. A wonderful introduction to Havana life.

Good base in Havana
This was the first Casa we stayed at in Cuba, so we still had to learn how they worked, and maybe did not notice/appreciate all its points.
This is family run. We had a ground floor room, clean, comfortable, good showers - not super modern. The family were always around to greet us, make sure we got into the place ok, even late at night. They seemed very caring and hospitable, didn't speak a lot of English but we got by fine.
Good breakfasts on a beautiful terrace. Cuban breakfast always seems to involve lots of fruit, fruit juice, great coffee, bread and eggs.
Family were friendly - helped us find a way to cash some money on the first night (seems any biggish hotel will do it, although not at the best rate - but will get you through the first night if you haven't exchanged money at the airport)
In relation to that, the queues at the airport made changing money difficult on arrival as transport was waiting. However, on the way out we got the tip to go to the next floor to departures where there would probably be no queues).
The hostal is in a rather run down area and you walk through a few streets of similar to get to a nice square with good restaurants, music and bars. Getting into the more central areas is a decent walk. It felt safe all the times we did it.
Being in Havana, we were out most of the time exploring and enjoying the city, so did not spend a lot of time in the hostel.
We traveled with Cuba direct, and their collection point for the bus to our next destination was very close to this Hostel.
Would recommend this.

What a lovely Casa
This is a beautiful Hostal, family run by wonderful friendly people. Jorge was so helpful especially on the first night helping with suggestions where to eat and our currency difficulties. I lost my heart to his Mum and Dad who made us so welcome into their home. Big hugs and kisses when we left and Dad shared his music as we played air guitar together! The Hostal is beautiful although like most of Havana is in a very run down street but very accessible to all parts of the old City. Breakfast on the roof terrace surrounded by plants and overlooking the lovely inner courtyard was excellent. Fresh rolls, fruit and eggs fruit juice and choice of tea or coffee set one up for the day. The showers were good and beds comfortable, in all a great place to stay. A little Spanish will help you converse with the family and get more out of your stay.
