A Perfect Vacation from Our Vacation!

Spent a couple of nights here while on vacation in Samara. Just what we needed. Thanks Joellen and Matt. Stayed on 2nd floor of #5 away from the road with a balcony and view over the property. Clean, safe, comfortable, basic accommodations. Great pool, small bodega and wonderful Mexican restaurant - el Chivo - right on the property. Less than a 5 minute walk to Playa Pelada. Check it out. Had all we could have asked for!

Decent for option for family on budget

The rooms are functional if somewhat sparse, e.g. no couch or comfortable chairs to sit in. I see some reviews describe them as cozy, this is certainly not the word I would use to describe them and the one we were in was quite dark. We had a room with a balcony which was nice, although furnishings on balcony were very basic and beginning to fall apart. The rooms are a bit tired, little issues like not all ceiling fans functioned on balcony, limited kitchen cutlery utensils etc. but you can get by. The bed is very basic with one thin sheet, if you are a fussy sleeper you might want to avoid. Beds are below the grade of even a basic Holiday Inn but are clean and intact. As is typically the case the photos look nicer than the reality.
It is a short walk to the beach which is nice and it has a small pool to relax by during the hot afternoons. You can walk from hotel and along beach to get to Playa Guiones where there is a small pocket of restaurants, surfing shops and other stores. I think about a 15-20 minute walk if you are a brisk walker.
A heads up that due to septic tank issues you are not allowed to flush toilet paper. I have seen this at other locations in Nosara but definitely not at all, so be forewarned that you are expected to accumulate a waste bin of used toilet paper which is not emptied daily, a bit gross.
Also forewarned that the restaurant which is located in the center of the compound has a music show on several nights and it is quite loud and goes till late. You will be significantly disturbed if you are looking for a quiet relaxing evening. Even with all door and windows closed it is still loud. It is not one guy gently strumming an unplugged acoustic guitar.
So all in all a basic unit but it does have sufficient space provides the basic amenities you require. A good option for a family on a budget.

Loads of potential.

Four of us spent 2 weeks in a two bedroom bungalow at Beachbreak. Wonderful property, great location (5 minute walk to Playa Pelada, and 20 minute walk to Play Guiones). Both beaches are stunning, with a breaking surf. With a car rental, you could visit many more quaint beaches and beach towns an hour or so away. If you want to visit some of the National Parks, volcanoes or other wildlife sanctuaries, you will be quite a distance away, and might have to arrange other accommodations further inland in order to see them. The apartment was basic, but quite comfortable for the limited time we were indoors. It was exactly what we were looking for. The El Chivo restaurant which is right on the property, offered fantastic Mexican food, and frosty beer and margaritas. Matt and Joellen run a wonderful establishment, and Taco Tuesdays are not to be missed.The Bodega grocery store was very convenient for our daily needs. You can pre-order an delicious roasted chicken to take back to your apartment for a stay-in dinner.
We did experience a few plumbing and supplies issues during our first few days that were eventually rectified. The only problem that couldn't be solved was the sewage smell that seemed to come from the hill behind our bungalow. It wafted over our patio throughout the day, but mostly in the evenings when we tried to sit out on our porch. Management called in a contractor to try to fix the problem, but it couldn't be solved during our stay. It's possible the other bungalows may not have this problem. This property has loads of potential if some of the maintenance issues could be looked after.

Cool spot

Stayed here for 2 nights with the family. There was a little mix up with our booking and the bungalow we reserved was taken. They were accommodating on the matter and gave us 2, but it was a little inconvenient considering we had to separate the family. The food in in the restaurant was delicious and everyone who worked there was great. The bodega is also a nice touch. My only issues was the amount of traffic the goes by. Overall we had a nice experience.

Great location

Basic bungalow in a good location. Great restaurant/bar on site with friendly staff ......never saw Matt (young one) without a big smile. La Bodega also on site which met all our basic grocery needs, the "grilled cheese bar" was a nice touch. Easy walking distance to two other great restaurants and easy walk to the beach. Call a Tuk tuk for cheap transportation in the area.
