Heaven in a green and coffee smell
Amazing experience in a more than a family finca. Mister Bernal is such a darling, so passionate about coffee and his work.
If you choose to stay here, you will never forget this. The finca owns his coffee lab, where M. Bernal will explain you everything about coffee, than you ll have a coffee tasting in a breathtaking settling over looking the mountains.
All the rooms have bathrooms with shower and hot water, confortable beds.
Even more we where lucky and have cappuccino on the bed. The breakfast is rich and tasty. And of course great Colombian coffee.
Very difficult to leave and let this place behind, but always will be in my mind and heart.
If you choose to stay here, you will never forget this. The finca owns his coffee lab, where M. Bernal will explain you everything about coffee, than you ll have a coffee tasting in a breathtaking settling over looking the mountains.

Unforgettable Coffee Farm Family experience near Armenia
What you liked:
The Finca Café Bernal (farm) is located in one of the most beautiful and scenic parts of Colombia and being able to have breakfast with such breathtaking views of the valley, the mountains, the orchids, the amazing colourful birds and the smell of the roasted coffee is an unforgettable experience.
The fact that it is so close to Armenia, yet out of town is a big plus, as sometimes we felt like going into town and having a restaurant meal or doing some shopping at Unicentro Armenia but coming back to the Finca in the afternoon allowed us to enjoy the views, the farm dogs, gazing at the Hummingbirds and learning and tasting the coffee process.
Our hosts Juliana, Maria Clemencia, Alejandro, Don Carlos (expert coffee grower) and the staff were very friendly and even gave us a couple of lifts into town, so it felt a bit more like staying with friends.
If you are into coffee, being able to pick up the grains straight from the "cafetales" yourself, then having Don Carlos so passionately explain the process all the way to serving a good Colombian coffee cup is unique, all at the same place where we were staying (which saved us some cash, rather than going somewhere else). Don Carlos is a coffee bible, doing this since age 14 with his father. The coffee they produce at Finca Café Bernal is artisan's produce hard to find. Ask to try the "natural" and "honey" for something truly unique.
As we came with our two children aged 8 and 10, being at the farm gave the kids plenty of fun, they loved the dogs, running around and discovering fauna everyday.
The room where we stayed was basic, but big enough and with it's own private bathroom.
The breakfast was typical for the area with eggs, arepa, chocolate or coffee and just enough to help you start the day.
What you didn’t like:
Be aware that because it is close, but out of town, (specially f you have kids) you then realise that there are no restaurants or food available close by. However, there is a small shop 5 minutes walk. So be prepared as you may need to have dinner/lunch in town or bring food with you back. Uber eats or similar would be perfect in this situation, but I don't know if this type of service is available in Armenia. Our hosts kindly arranged transport with a local driver and this could offer a solution by arranging meals delivered.
As with many warm areas in Colombia and as this is a farm, expect small insects coming into the bathroom. Once a day the cleaning was done and got rid of much of it, but if you don't like insects you may need to factor this in.
Animals such as dogs can sometimes be a bit too much, despite the fact that they were ultra friendly, but our hosts offered many times to keep them away. I mean, it is a farm, and every farm in Colombia has it's dogs.
My partner complaint that she was expecting toiletries included such as shampoo and conditioner but this seemed to be missing and we forgot to mention it to our hosts.
The rooms facing the dinning area can be noisy and the dinning area which is small, may not be sufficient if all the rooms are full, something to consider or discuss with your hosts if privacy is an issue. But if you have backed packed around the world, this should be no problem as it is a more communal experience. We stayed on the bigger room facing the hill and was very peaceful. And lastly, the locks and doors to the rooms appear to not be very flimsy and although we didn't have any issues and felt safe, it is something to consider if you are leaving valuables while you are out. So make sure that you discuss it with your hosts.

An incredible experience
Every coffee fan should visit this place and learn how to prepare the best coffee in the world. In Cafe Bernal they work with a true passion!! Let them show you some of the magic, you will not regret!

Great place and great coffee
We stopped at finca cafe bernal without booking, just for one night. The rooms are basic but look like new and clean. As we came unexpected a thing or two was missing, but all quickly resolved once asked.
We were welcomed by amazing coffee with liquor and fresh hot croissants, all served with beautiful view. It was just perfect on a chilly night after a day of sightseeing. Breakfast was as good, as served everywhere else - fresh fruit, eggs, arepa, cheese and coffee - but tastes even better with that view.
We bought their good coffee when leaving, also well priced.
It's all about the view and hospitality, definitely recommended if you enjoy simple things like nature, amazing view, birds signing, great cup of coffee.

LA DEFINICION DE AMOR Y BELLEZA
Espectacular en todo el sentido de la palabra, dolly fue muy atenta, Don Carlos es un hombre realmente espectacular la señora juliana fue atenta desde antes de llegar al sitio, el cuarto y baños siempre estuvieron muy bien, la explicacion sobre el cafe y cacao fue enriquecedora, ESPERO CON ANSIAS VOLVER
