Good food, clean accommodation, friendly staff and nice surroundings- including a troop of baboons living in the gardens which were very entertaining.

Nice stop over along the way between tsavo and nairobi. No complaints, for the low price this lodge is very good, but it's relative to the price. Rooms are big and nice, old, but very clean. Staff is welcoming, food is good, surroundings are pretty. Easy to find along the mombasa road

Beautiful old farmhouse
The welcome at the lodge was - as almost everywhere in Africa - warm, the reception uncomplicated. The rooms are very spacious, though a bit out of time. The door to the bathroom was a saloon door, entirely in Western style. The balcony was spacious, although the seat cushions would have needed cleaning. The menu was clear, the food tasty. The park of the lodge invited you to go for a walk, but you had to beware of a stray herd of baboons. The pool area was spacious and well maintained. All in all it is a very nice lodge, with an old, developed farmhouse. Unfortunately very little frequented as it is too far from the Tsavo NP.

A real haven
We stopped here for lunch on our way to Tsavo. The staff were all very welcoming and it was a lovely place to stop. We were surprised that it was so peaceful as it it right on the Mombasa Road but we heard little traffic noise. On our way back from Tsavo we stayed here overnight. We were warmly welcomed back and shown to our lovely room. Wow. It was beautiful. It had a balcony at the back overlooking the lake and it was fun watching the monkeys there. The room had a huge four poster bed with a very very good mosquito net, plenty of pillows and was super comfortable. There was lots of storage and a lovely sofa too. The bathroom also was very big and with lovely toiletries. The one downside was the saloon style swing doors to the bathroom so no privacy while in there. They really need to change those especially as the toilet is in there! The staff were very friendly and welcoming. Food was excellent for dinner as was breakfast. There were tea bags and a kettle in the room but no coffee! Bit difficult if you don't drink tea! I did ask for some but think the request got lost in translation and hot coffee arrived next morning. (which was very welcome anyway) The grounds are lovely and there are a lot of monkeys and baboons around. There is a big swimming pool but we didnt use it, There's a bridge over the lake which is quite bouncy but fun. Overall we enjoyed our time here and it was a good break on the trek back from Tsavo to Nairobi.
