Comfortable, clean, convenient hotel

I stayed here for 5 days with my family. We had a small suite, room 309, which was plenty big enough for 2 adults & 1 child. Decent sized double bed and pull-out sofa bed. Both very comfortable.
Room felt slightly dated - reminiscent of Soviet era hotels, which this is - but spacious with 2 rooms, bathroom, various chairs and cupboards, TV, small fridge, mirror. The single/standard rooms looked quite small by comparison.
We found an iron/board on the top (4th) floor in a room with a massage bed contraption - you just need to ask at reception for the key. Our room faced the back of the hotel and was not at all noisy.
Beakfast was not overwhelming, but adequate. Several cold cuts, bread, yoghurt, cheese, fruit, etc. You could ask for a fresh omlette or porridge (kasha) to be made. Samovar hot water for tea, and instant coffee powder (or small packets of coffee mix).
Staff were very polite - always said 'good day' or similar as we passed reception. The lift was quite slow and sometimes wasn't working - you had to go up a level to find it and then bring it down.
Our only gripe about this hotel is the free wifi. This worked sporadically, and only very locally it seems.
Would definitely recommend this hotel and will be staying here again next year.

Noisy, terrible wi-fi hotel

Stayed here for 3 nights as booked by a travel agent for a business trip in Taraz. My room was located near the stairs and I literally was not able to sleep the first night. I fell asleep very late the second night, and probably I was very tired already the third night that I fell asleep around 9pm. You could hear guests opening their doors like they were opening your door. Could hear guests loudly chatting on the other room. And even the guy snoring next door.
Room is fine, not spacious but fine enough for one. You have to wait for 20-30mins before the water could turn hot.
Wi-fi connection was terribly poor, that there was never connection inside the room the entire time I was there. You have to go down at the lobby to be able to open and read emails.
Breakfast was the same everyday. They offered me an omelette but I was only given an scrambled egg without anything in there. I don't know if they call scrambled egg an omelette?!?

Came for work

I'm usually staying in better places. But you need to take for consideration the size of Taraz and that you are at Kazakhstan.
Now that we are on the same page,
The hotel is OK.
It is enough for sleeping. The breakfast is not very satisfying, but eatable.
Around the hotel there are planty places to eat and drink.
Location of the hotel is not bad.

Not bad - pros & cons

Good location within walking distance of some restaurants, a museum, some shopping, a park. Some staff speak reasonable English. We had 3 people in a suite and one in a budget room. The suite was comfortable, large, clean, and in good condition. Quiet hotel, good wifi. Hot water dispenser in the hall was nice until it ran out. Laundry service was good (but check prices first!).
The budget room was clean enough but shabby with an older, tiny bathroom in some disrepair - so you get what you pay for in the rooms. The breakfast buffet was just ok. Pros: yogurt, lots of bakery choices and porridge. Cons: The hot foods were lukewarm and mostly fatty or processed meats. Some guests had eggs but we were told we couldn't order them (we didn't pursue this so perhaps we could have overcome this issue if we'd tried harder, but as guests with very weak Russian skills we were confused). No real coffee - just instant.

Too expensive for this standard

European price - Kazakh standard.
If you want to take a shower in the morning let the water flow for at least 30 minutes in advance till it gets hot.
- Wifi works well
- Breakfast is average
- Rooms are clean
