Family stay

Nice old charm hotel, clean and spacious. Awesome location, near the water, near a park, close to shopping. Our family had a wonderful time

Great location; needs some sprucing up

We chose Sylvia just because my wife had gone there in the 80s. Positives: Staff was very friendly and helpful. Location is great, right near the sea wall and Stanley Park. Negatives: Bath towels were way too small and thin. Some furniture was fairly scuffed up. Blockout curtains had numerous spots where the material had degraded (but not so bad that the sun woke us). In all, it was fine but clearly needs some investment in sprucing the place up. OTOH, I didn't compare prices so perhaps the price factored in the condition.

Wonderful stay

We loved everything about the Sylvia hotel! The location, the charm, the amazing staff, the great restaurant. We were upgraded to an incredible corner room on the 5th floor, we were traveling with friends so the extra space was great for gathering.
We’d never stay any where else in Vancouver BC!

So glad we found the Sylvia Hotel

A charming hotel in an unbeatable location on English Bay. Walkable to Stanley Park and the downtown waterfront. A good bike shop up the street to rent bikes to explore the beautiful city of Vancouver and its surrounding area. We ate in the hotel restaurant for a dinner and a breakfast...both good, but there are also great restaurant choices within a short walk. Very friendly and helpful staff. Would definitely go back if we travel to Vancouver again.

Best stay in Vancouver

What a perfect location for a vacation. The hotel is ideally situated to give a visitor a taste of city life. You step out of one door of the hotel and walk down Denman and sample a wide array of food choices but was out another door and be at the foot of English Bay and disappear into Stanley Park. The hotel staff are welcoming; the rooms well appointed; and the restaurant much improved. This isn't a fancy place but it is ideal.
