Everything was fine! Room was neat, clean and comfortable! Staff people were great!
Parking underneath the hotel is very tight and close though.

The lack of cleanliness takes away all the points.

The hotel is very good in many aspects. Both the common areas and the room we were assigned, 328 in sector B, made a very good impression on us. The room is spacious, comfortable, and has details that are much appreciated: an iron, quality amenities, and a large number of outlets, something that is often missed in other hotels. In addition, we arrived on the 18th and the service received during check-in was very good.
However, after the first night, a major disappointment arrived. Upon returning to the room, we verified that the cleaning service had practically limited itself to changing the towels and straightening the bed linens. The floor had not been cleaned and was full of hair after we had dried our hair in the morning. The shower and the sink had not been cleaned either: they still had all the limescale stains.
I went personally to the front desk to report what happened and request that they send someone to perform the cleaning correctly. It was not yet 14:00 and the housekeeping staff was still working, so it seemed perfectly possible to solve the problem. They took note of my request, but when we returned at night, no one had been by the room.
I find it quite regrettable that a hotel that clearly tries to take care of so many details and offer a good experience has such a significant failure. For me, cleanliness is absolutely non-negotiable, and finding hair on the room floor is something I find especially unpleasant.
For everything else, the hotel deserves a much higher rating, but an establishment can have a beautiful room, good facilities, and friendly staff; if the cleanliness fails in this way and, furthermore, is not corrected after reporting it, it is difficult to rate the experience positively. A lack of cleanliness can happen once, but ignoring an express request to fix it is much harder to justify.

Hotel was decent location - just a brief walk to the quaintest areas of the upper old city. Room was nice sized and well-appointed. On the same block is about a dozen restaurants of various types which was very convenient. Main disappointment was lack of concierge service to provide tourism info (he was actually the luggage valet and not very helpful in the tourism area). Overall, however a good experience.

A large hotel and great location for visiting old town

We stayed at Hotel Chateau Laurier, Quebec for 4 nights in August while travelling around Canada. We arrived by car and self-parked (in the hotel's underground car park - in the blue zone). They do offer valet parking which we did use when leaving. I think parking costs us $29 per night. A nice young valet helped us with luggage etc. Check in was fine and the girl on reception was very helpful but she was chewing gum the whole time which was very off-putting.
We were allocated room 445 (in Sector B) which was a modern room but rather small for a 4-night stay with our large luggage. There wasn’t much floor space to set down our cases. The room had a small wardrobe with large fridge, room safe, iron and ironing board. There was a coffee machine (but no kettle). There are a few drawers and a desk area. It was a very quiet room and overlooked a large patio/courtyard. There was air con and free WIFI but no telephone in the room.
The bathroom was a bit small but had a large walk-in shower. Toiletries were via dispensers. There was a hairdryer and dressing gowns. The bath towels were rather on the small side but they did offer cotton flannels (which you rarely get in the UK these days).
As we had arrived rather late for the restaurant we managed to get some snacks from a small fast-food outlet/convenience store within the hotel. It was okay and handy if you wanted a small snack or drinks and didn’t want to eat in the restaurant.
There is an indoor pool but we didn’t try it out.
We were on a ‘room only’ basis but we had breakfast in the hotel the first morning. I think it was around $26 per person. There was a reasonable selection of hot and cold buffet but it wasn’t brilliant and they kept running out of various items. It was a rather soulless restaurant so on subsequent mornings we had breakfast in one of the many restaurants just around the corner in Grande Allee.
We did not try their restaurant for dinner as there were so many lovely restaurants nearby that had more atmosphere, character, good prices and good portions.
We had a problem with a pre-booked tour that we had made from the UK and a lovely young valet there, Lucas Martel, was extremely helpful and lent me his mobile phone to sort it out as I couldn’t get through on my own phone. He went above and beyond the call of duty!
This is a very large hotel and probably better suited to business stays whereas we prefer more charming, boutique-style hotels.
Saying that, I would not want to put you off staying here if you like large hotels. It is in a great location for the many tourist sites of Quebec City and we managed to walk everywhere whilst there and did not need to use our car.

I was in a recently redone room which had an amazingly deep soaking tub (and a separate shower). The room had a fireplace and plenty of seating. The room layout was impressive!
