ONE STOP SHOP TO THE MENTAWAI

For anyone thinking about surfing the Mentawai - this is the place you have been looking for.
Suryia - absolute legend - will help you with boards, the best deals for accommodation Masokut island through his contacts with locals out on the islands. He’ll know how to sort you with locals photography services and experienced surf guides should you want them. If you message him before hand he could even accept your boards through the post or order boards in ahead of your arrival.
He is contactable through the Koko’s Instagram handle @kokos_surfshop.
I stayed 3 months out in the Mentawai and was thankful for his help with any queries I had along the way.
Kokos Hostel is a great place to stay to meet other surfers & gain the locals insight before taking the fast ferry over- not least because they will pick you up from the airport & drop you off at the boat.

Couldn’t have been looked after any better.

Stayed here before and after my mentawais surf trip, the boys at the hostel were so helpful organising transport, providing useful information regarding the area and even going out of there way to pick up things from the shops down the street. They organised Uber eats for us on the there rooftop while we hung out in the pool. What more can you ask for

Prima voor een nachtje

Basic hostel met een leuk dakterras. De host is vriendelijk. Wij sliepen in een kamer zonder ramen, maar dat was prima voor een nachtje. Het ziet er netjes en schoon uit. Enige minpuntje was dat we ontbijt erbij hadden gedaan, maar er eigenlijk (naar ons idee) geen ontbijt was. Er lag alleen een brood en er was een potje jam. Verwacht daar dus niet iets van en haal lekker wat om de hoek :-)
