My Second Visit and I Already Can’t Wait for the Third
This was my second stay at Capella Ubud, and once again it was an unforgettable experience. There is something very special about this place — the setting, the atmosphere, the attention to detail, and especially the people.
From the moment you arrive, you are made to feel genuinely welcome and cared for. The service is warm and personal without ever feeling forced, and that is a big part of what makes Capella stand out.
A special thank you to Lastri, Mario, and Ayaan, who were wonderful throughout my stay. I would also like to thank the entire Mads Lange crew — everyone was excellent, always friendly, attentive and genuinely kind. You can really feel the effort the whole team puts into making every guest’s experience memorable.
The property itself remains one of the most unique places I have stayed. Being surrounded by the Balinese jungle creates such a peaceful and distinctive atmosphere, and even on a second visit it still feels special.
Leaving Capella is never easy. This was visit number two, and I’m already looking forward to the third.

One of the best hotels we have ever stayed at
Capella Ubud was without question the standout of our trip and genuinely one of the best hotels we have ever stayed at. We travel frequently and have been fortunate enough to stay at some incredible hotels around the world, but Capella Ubud was something truly special.
From the moment we arrived until the moment we left, the entire experience was exceptional. The staff are absolutely beautiful, warm, friendly, genuine and incredibly attentive without ever feeling overbearing. There is a personality and soul to this hotel that is very difficult to replicate.
We stayed in the Java Tent and absolutely loved it. Before arriving, we weren't entirely sure what to expect from the concept of a tented hotel, but it completely exceeded our expectations. The rooms are exciting, theatrical and unlike anywhere else we have stayed, while still feeling incredibly luxurious and comfortable. Our private heated pool was beautiful and something we used far more than we expected.
The design of the entire property is extraordinary. Every corner has something interesting to discover and the attention to detail is incredible. It feels like much more than simply staying at a luxury hotel — it is a complete experience. Even the main pool is incredibly cool and unlike a traditional resort pool.
The food was another major highlight. Both restaurants were excellent, but our dinner at Api Jiwa was particularly memorable. We had the special multi-course dining experience and it was easily one of the highlights of our stay. The food, atmosphere and interaction made it feel like an experience rather than simply dinner.
There is also so much happening throughout the day. Afternoon tea, cocktails, breakfast and evenings around the main tent all add to the atmosphere and give you a reason to actually spend time at the property. Breakfast was excellent and we loved that despite Ubud being easy to get into, we often didn't want to leave the hotel.
Capella Ubud manages to be luxurious without feeling predictable. It is fun, interesting, beautifully designed and full of character, but what really makes it exceptional are the people and the overall experience they create.
We arrived curious about whether we would enjoy the tented concept and left already talking about when we could come back. An absolutely wonderful hotel and one we will remember for a very long time.
