Great!

Sunju of Anand Kanand is a real gentleman!
Anand Kanand is a good hotel, good shower and great ac in the room.
We recomend to other backpackers as us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Nice cafe' close to the hotel and the location is about 10 minutes walk from the principal ghat for ganga aarti.

Needs some investment

My second stay here and the accom needs some investment. Very very handy to Ghats but next visit I will be happy to catch a rickshaw or Tuktuk and get to this special place that way. The shower pressure was insufficient for the hot water to rise high up, so it was bucket baths for me.

Excellent stay at Anand Kanan! Highly recommended!

We will always remember the time we spent in Varanasi at Anand Kanan. Our host, Dr. Arvind Singh, was so gracious and welcoming that we immediately felt at home. Our room was newly renovated, very clean and comfortable and the location is excellent--less than 5 minutes to walk to Dashashwamedh Ghat on the Ganges. We hope to return to Varanasi in the future and will definitely stay at Anand Kanan.

Good value central

The hotel was very good , comfortable and close to river
the shower was a bit slow , the staff lovely, and helpful .
the porters helped us all the way out to main rd with luggage .
a great location
It was a bit noisey at night due to a big religious festival the city was having .

Avoid this place

Unless you want to risk your reservation being cancelled shortly before your arrival, stay away from this place. I booked in January (10 months before our stay) and at the beginning of October Anand asked us to cancel as they were having water problems which would not be fixed until the day after our arrival. This did not make sense as the hotel was still able to be booked and when I questioned this we were told we could stay as they would now have the water problems fixed before our arrival. But then a few days later our reservation was cancelled by the hotel with the reason being “overbooking”. With only 3 weeks before our arrival I am disgusted at the treatment from the hotel. I have traveled extensively for over 40 years and have never been treated so badly before with such dishonesty. It says something about the character of the owner and I am glad we are staying somewhere else that is rated higher with more welcoming owners.
