Unpleasant Front Desk Staff

We stayed at the hotel for 5 consecutive days. I believe in the saying 'first impression is the last impression'. And the first impression is given by the staff at the front desk. However, the front desk staff was very rude and lack courtesy. His name is Aadil. He didnt even greeted us on our arrival nor on our departure. He was always cold with us on the phone such that we almost decided to move to another hotel the next day.
But the manager Mr. Salim and one of the bellboys Mr. Idriss were very kind and helpful. They made our stay comfortable, especially Idriss. He is a great guy, very helpful and on call even when he is off-duty. I would have rated the hotel 5/5 but dur to Aadil's cold attitude, 3/5.

Can not stress enough, AVOID

Worst place we've ever stayed. We got to Mumbai around 10pm after a whole day of traveling from Nepal. Our room wasn't ready and they "cleaned" it when we arrived at the hotel. No one could speak English and they just kept saying to wait. We finally got into our room after 11pm and went straight to bed, when someone from the reception started to knock at our door every 5 mins which we avoided to answer as we wanted to sleep and thought the message was clear but nope, they carried on till around midnight. So we opened the door and they asked us for our passports at which we got pretty annoyed as it was 12am and they had us waiting forever for our room and told them we would of done it the morning after. They finally left us alone. The area looks really doggy so much we've decided to shorten our stay. The "hotel" is actually in a building of flats (I suppose), on the third floor, and it's just a desk with a hallway and few doors which are the rooms. There was no hot shower in our room, the fan so loud you couldn't sleep, mattress non existent so that you basically sleep on the wooden base of the bed. The building was extremely dirty and looked abandoned - the third floor where the rooms are wasn't too bad but all together this place was just horrible.

Awful

One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed in. In our two weeks in India this was the most expensive room, and by far the worst. Avoid it unless you have no other option.
The 'deluxe room' itself was dusty and dirty, the smell was bad, and the it was so damp that our clothes were still wet after being hung up to dry for two days.
There is no proper window and no natural light, which makes it feel like a bit of a cell. Outside the grate in the bathroom you can hear rats skweaking at night (as I write this I can hear them) and there was also rat poo on the windowsill.
There is even a friendly black crow - which we named Jeeves - that sits in its nest right outside the bathroom widow and watches you with beady eyes while you enjoy your very cold shower.
The hotel, while very near the Masjid metro rail line, is on the third floor of a huge and dirty building. The staff, who are accommodating but serious, sit at the bottom of the hall all day, so you can hear conversation and tv all day. Peace and quiet is not something you'll get here - but there you won't get that anywhere in Mumbai.
One saving grace is it's location,(it's three minutes walk to the metro line, which connects to the main terminus), and there are a few good restaurants around. The free chai and breakfast also aren't too bad and both the AC and fan work well.
It seems like a hotel for locals rather than travellers. You should be able to get some where nicer and more central for the same price. (We payed 3600, excluding 18 per cent tax, for three nights). Keep this hotel as your last possible option.
