still the hotel with best veiws of Matheran
fantastic , old british charm still mantained , owners Lords familys personal touch , best veiws of matheran perhaps the only hotel with direct clear hill veiws.

Great location , great view, bad maintenance
Property is very very run down
Outdoor areas are well maintained , not don’t let that fool you.
Rooms will make you feel like old, 70’s ,2nd class railway lodge.
Every false ceiling of every room , has mould .
Mattress are hard as rock.
Pillows are hard and paper thin.
Bathrooms are same as municipal hospital bathrooms, cheap tiles and local steel plumbing, with a WC you don’t want to sit on.
Shiny Oil paints on the walls,
Peeled off ply and paints on all wood
Cheap plastic chairs
There’s nothing premium about the place
This property was at its prime in 80-90’s.
Need desperate renovation.
Having said that, staff is old and very well behaved,
Owners are very nice , humble and inviting.
But finally I am still paying the money for the room above all, so that maintenance was lacking 100 percent. Tacky beds and tack bathrooms , not acceptable for the name and price.

Only USP is its location. Otherwise, absolutely avoidable.
Zero maintenance. Terrible food. Price charged for the rooms and the food does not justify its quality. Absolutely avoidable. Quite a horrendous place to stay. The rooms are dilapidated and the food is quite crappy with absolutely nothing significant to offer to vegetarians, not that they have anything great for non-vegetarians.
Many other nicer places that one could opt for a stay in Matheran.
Only USP of this place is the location. Housekeeping and kitchen staff is courteous.

Beautiful view of matheran mountains
The hotel is somewer 100+ years old so ul see old vintage rooms with their old interiors. The view of matheran mountains from pool side rooms are really amazing. U can sit in ur veranda & have tea n snacks looking at peaceful sunset. They hve their own library section to relax & take ur time to read if ure a book lover. Also they've games like carrom, badminton to play in ur free time.

A Nightmare of a stay - the worst rooms ever!
There are some stays that linger with you for much after you've been there, some for good reasons and some for the bad. This one falls in the latter.
It's been over 10 days since we visited Lord's Central and I can tell you we still can't get over the horrific stay we had there and are still reeling from the shock of what we experienced. It's the first time in my life that on a 2 night stay we were praying when the holiday would end and we could get back to the comforts of our home.
The big problem there is with the rooms. These people charge today's rates for a room that was probably made in the 80's and is still that way, not upgraded, not improved and no effort made to provide comfort to the customers who put faith in them and come to spend a vacation there after paying a premium for this crappy place.
The rooms are in a pathetic and deplorable state, which made us feel cheated and angry. They have no respect or value their customer's comfort is clear from the following.
1. The bedding is so uncomfortable with rough bedsheets and pillow covers that you will never get a sound sleep. We kept waking up in the middle of the night several times bcoz the hard and rough pillow covers and bedsheets rubbing against our faces and bodies kept poking us throughout the night. They don't want to spend money to put soft, comfortable bedding and expect us to bear this torture through the night, hence we were unable to sleep for 2 nights.
2. The blankets were foul smelling and rough and hence we just junked them completely and did not land up using them. They haven't bothered to change it for God knows how long.
3. The old sofas provided to sit and watch tv were infested with bed bugs and unusable. The old and jaded dirty sofa covers were very bad to even look at and it was disappointing to have this bad piece of furniture and not a clean comfortable one. We were of course not able to use it during our entire stay.
4. The wardrobes are broken and unpolished and drawers in a bad shape. It's sad to see the old rotten furniture in such deplorable conditions being provided to customers. There is a difference between vintage and junk. You can't sell junk in the name of heritage. It was just horrific.
5. They have one vintage Videocon ac which only throws air and hardly any cooling. Without a fan you can't stay in the room as the old ac is not enough to cool the room and this in spite of telling their Mumbai booking office that a good ac room was essential as it was hot in Matheran.
6. When you have an enclosed sitting area outside the room for the view, you ought to provide some cooling relief to be able to sit there. The vintage ac which was not enough to cool the room itself could not provide any relief there and a fan is imperative bcoz if you open the main door to the outside then the monkeys enter. So that was another area we could not utilise fully and so the whole purpose of paying a premium for a valley view room was defeated.
7. Who keeps drinking water in the toilet near the wash basin. We were really put off to see this. There were 4 glasses and an old Milton water storage right next to the wash basin in the toilet, something we just could not fathom and never landed using it. It was just disgusting, the least they could do is keep in the room.
8. In today's day and age you need at least 1 charging point near your bed in a family room. How does one charge their phones otherwise. They have just one plug point which is on the main switchboard far away from the bed and no place to keep the phone to charge.
9. Old, dirty toilets and bathrooms, with old tiles. No decent soap or shampoo. Dental kit is a far fetched thought.
10. The highlight of the room was that there were curtains everywhere in the room like we've come to furnishing showroom.
The manager there is helpless and says speak to the owner and the owner an old Parsi lady only thanks you for the feedback but does nothing about it except for giving excuses.
Am sorry to say this was one of my worst stays for as long as I can remember. In today's day and age you need basic comfort when you go for a vacation and when you are fleeced by coughing up ₹8500 per night you expect far better not this crap. Place is not even worth ₹1500. Stay away from this pathetic place by a barge pole.
