Comfortable stay but unethical people
We were on a long road trip from Jamshedpur to Kanha National Park. We decided to take a night halt somewhere near Katghora, for which I was looking for a hotel close to NH130, where I could park my car safely inside the hotel premises. On searching the hotel booking sites, I found that Hotel Green Park, located at the outskirt of Korba, was fulfilling my requirements. Although price was on higher side, I booked this through Booking.com website.
I booked Superior King Room. But on reaching there, they provided a very shabby type room at the second floor, with almost nothing working properly. Low cooling with AC, bathroom taps were not working properly, commode shower was not working at all, a lizard was roaming on the floor, etc. Disappointed, when we asked them to show other rooms, they first showed a few more rooms in the same floor, and all of them were almost in similar condition. Finally, they shifted us to a room of first floor, and then we realized that this room was matching with the pictures of the Superior King Room, which we had actually seen during booking the room.
Very simple – they were trying to manage with lower category rooms.
We were somewhat fortunate that the basic amenities of the second floor rooms were not working, and that is why they finally had to provide this Superior King Room, which I had booked. Otherwise we would have been cheated completely.
As soon as we shifted to this room, all the issues vanished instantly. It was a good room, with adequate lighting, good bathroom, perfectly working AC and other amenities (including an electric kettle, as per the room description). However, they wasted valuable 1 hour of time, when I was driving such a long distance, and halted for a rest of only few hours.
Clearly, all these happened due to the absolute dishonesty of the management of this hotel. Moreover, their so called Superior King Room also appeared quite overpriced. Instead of 3830 INR (without any meal), about 2200/2300 INR would have been appropriate. During the return journey of the same trip, I halted at another city of Chhattisgarh, where I stayed in a much better hotel with a much better room – spending only about 2850 INR including breakfast and an excellent dinner for two of us. But, more than anything else, it is the dishonesty of Green Park – which is totally unacceptable.
