Best stay with awesome host but be careful

I have visited jaisalmer recently and Moustache was obviously the preferred option. Has already stayed in Moustache Rishikesh, Zostel charkara many times before so the trust of getting excellent service there already. We just walked up to the Property directly without making any prior booking still they provided the stay at the same price didn’t asked anything extra. Which gives you the sense of that professionalism. Abhishek and the staff is great , warm personalities who welcomes you with open heart. We also took the Moustache off-beat dessert safari. We left around 2:30 the camper driver kishore “he is the best” fun jolly nature good host. Visited Kuldhara village and Oasis lake/pond. Then went a bit off-road towards the dunes. Moustache and zostel has a somewhat private dunes. So its a quiet place with no one in the radius of around 5km. Ride towards the dunes started with camels each one of us had a separate Camels. There were 1 another solo traveller with us. It take almost 30-40 mins to reach dunes on Camels back. The only things which made us all a bit uncomfortable after a incident were we asked that how do you guys manage to cook out here in desert basically trying to know the lifestyle. Then the Camel caretake out of no where said “itni mehnat hoti hai thik se finger b nae kr pate h” which made all three of us a bit uncomfortable then the driver saved hik by saying “he means ki hath ki lines mith jati h” but we all understood clearly what he said. Moving on the sun was about to set later following with the lit up moon and a shooting star. In the morning we a lil off-roading in the camper after the breakfast only. Then came back to the hostel. That was our experience your may be different.

If you want your safety, never book here. Not safe for women.

I had a very disappointing and concerning experience at Moustache Jaisalemer. The management is extremely poor, and there was a major security lapse during my stay — something that makes this place especially unsafe for female travellers. Even after booking private room, the security is zero and staff is non trustable and we ended up changing the hotel for the night. They have windows which opens on stairs and anyone can peep in easily.
Our check-in time was 11:30 AM, yet we were made to wait over 30 minutes and only got the room at 12:30 PM. When we raised a genuine complaint about staff misbehaviour, the owner, Abhishek, was rude and defensive instead of taking responsibility.
This property seriously lacks professionalism, safety, and hospitality. I strongly advise anyone — particularly solo or female travellers — to avoid this hotel for their own safety and peace of mind.

Bad place to stay for families

This hotel is actually an old villa that’s been “renovated” but feels far from complete. Although the rooms are a decent size, they’re almost unfurnished: for about 14K per night, all I got was a large bed, one bedside table, a single chair, and a big table holding a few amenities.
There were only two pillows and a ton of decorative cushions. On my first night, noise continued until midnight. If you don’t book the superior rooms, don’t bother staying here—the standard rooms are tiny. There’s one small heater, which is better than nothing, but it takes forever to warm the stone walls.
Bathroom amenities were so sparse I had to ask for them multiple times, and there’s nowhere to hang a towel. Tripadvisor mentions a “game room,” but it’s just a bunch of broken board games.
This place would be fine if it charged around 3K to even 5K per night. But since it costs as much as some upscale hotels in Jaisalmer, it’s definitely not worth it. While the noise got a bit better on the next two nights, the bathroom remained inconveniently equipped. We had no choice but to stay all three nights because there was no refund. Honestly, I’d skip visiting Jaisalmer rather than stay here with family. It might be okay for a backpacker looking for a cheap hostel, but for anyone else, give this one a miss.

Ruined our sleep - bad crisis management

The rooms are good, and so is the food. However, we faced a major issue at night. The lights in several rooms went out, and the staff refused to start the generator, citing technical reasons. Apparently, starting the generator would require switching all rooms to generator power.
As guests, this wasn't our concern. I was traveling with kids, and two other couples with children faced the same issue. When on vacation with kids, you don't want to deal with such problems, especially at a place where guest comfort isn't the top priority.
The issue wasn't just the power outage but the reluctance to activate the generator. It's during such situations that the quality of guest care becomes apparent.
I wouldn't recommend this place for families. I appreciate the extended checkout time by an hour, but it didn't compensate for the nighttime inconvenience.
To reiterate, the rooms, location, and food are excellent, but when you compromise guests' sleep and comfort, it reveals poor crisis management.
