Great hotel!!

A 4 night stay, great hotel with a cozy terrace, good food and friendly owners.
Definitely recommended. Nice opportunities for walking and cycling in the area.

Not welcoming and unfriendly

Nice hotel in a beautiful location. Clean and the food was good.
Unfortunately a very unwelcoming and unfriendly owner (Mark). The communication beforehand was downright poor. Upon entering we were not greeted and nothing was explained. This unhospitality was very unpleasant.

Inhospitable if you go there once

We slept there for 2 nights. Also the first day of the restaurant used. We got there 7pm and our order done. I had ordered a venison steak medium with the wine sauce separately .We got 19.45 our food. My venison steak was completely browned and well-done and the sauce was all over it. Asked for a new one. That was difficult. I then went to the raw food. The bins I liked were practically empty. I complained about that. Also because we got dinner so late. The owner came to me afterwards. Took me to the bins and said: “look they are all full”. I didn't say anything but the bins that were practically empty she had taken away. The silver onions, salads with rice etc were there. But the trays of fresh lettuce, celery I saw the leftovers of, were gone. I got my steak from the owner. I had to order a rosé venison steak from now on. Sounded really unkind. This steak tasted fine, the sauce was separate but the 3 Brussels sprouts were burned black. The pear was good. In front of us was a table with 6 people where I later found out that they came more often, they walked up and down. These will judge very positively and therefore the salads ran out.
The towels were supposed to indicate that you wanted new ones just like toilet paper. This is what we did. My friend made the crosses and I saw it was done well. Unfortunately, we had no canvases. Picked up in the morning and said nothing. The owner I had called the next day because we had lost some and he immediately freaked out about the towels that the cross was wrong. We're never coming here again. Guests who come often are treated differently than if you come once. No excuses, an instant rebuttal.

Top hotel

We live in Hungary and have been on a family visit to Nederland.Dus we had chosen Berg en Dal in Epen. Absolutely not a bad choice. Berg en Dal in Epen is a cozy family hotel in the quiet Epen. We were well received by the friendly owners. The rooms were neat and clean. We stayed in room 306. The hotel is frequently visited by the somewhat older generation. Which is of course also wonderful that you do NOT suffer from slamming doors in the middle of the night by young people coming home. After 8 o'clock in the evening it is quite doodstil.Het breakfast was sufficient for us it does not have to be so extensive but there was absolutely enough choice. Since no endive is available here in Hungary we felt like a plate of endive stew.. Unfortunately this was not on the menu. When the owner heard our wish it was so arranged. The next day we were allowed to enjoy a delicious plate of endive stampot.Compliments to the cook. Behind the hotel is a large parking lot .Nachts it is closed. But one can get a key to both the gate and the main entrance of the hotel in case you come home late (at the hotel ). We will definitely be back next year.

Excellent impression

Great hotel. Food good, room comfortable and staff extremely friendly. Couldn't think of anything negative.
