A nice charming hotel but welcome in 1980
A nice old farmhouse that has served for many years as a place to stay for travelers who took a drink in the kitchen and slept in the hay.
Around 1980 the building was converted into a hotel and it still is. The hotel is nice and the people are very friendly, but everything breathes 1980. The restaurant, the spaces and the room.
The reception is friendly. We are a little earlier than the check in time but there is no difficulty about that. That is always a nice and welcome feeling.
The room is a bit larger room with terrace. You have to pay a little extra for that. The room is very clean and comfortable, with a large bathroom with shower and bathtub. Especially the bathroom is very 1980. A shower tray, with still the rust of the mat that was in it, a somewhat rickety toilet whose button to flush keeps falling off and an old-fashioned bath. The walls and ceilings clearly need a refresh. The terrace is not really a private terrace but just a door to the outside. The neighbors can just walk by.
Breakfast is fine as always. Dinner is good but I am annoyed by the fact that everything has a surcharge. We have a Fletcher card where the room is already paid for with the subscription and you pay for dinner, breakfast and any surcharges. That was already 160 eur. When you dine then you expect that to be paid for. But all in all you pay 40 eur again for “surcharges” at dinner. That's partly your drinks, but mainly because you're charged a supplement for almost every dish. Only the hamburger and cheap satay is about free. However, I do come to eat well.
In the immediate vicinity is not much to do within walking distance. You can walk around the campus of the University of Twente, you can walk into the forest, but no villages, restaurants or bars. That's a shame. However, you can get to Enschede in 10 minutes by bus.
All in all a nice and charming hotel with very friendly staff. The whole thing needs a refresher.

Lunch. Took very la g before the waiter came and even longer before we were fed.

A nice weekend away which was so disappointing
The hotel is very dated and the rooms were dusty the worst was the bathroom
This one was so moldy that you absolutely don't want to shower there or whatever very humid and an attack on your health. You can't do this to your guests. In our arrangement we could just eat from the menu they had said, but what turned out to be our menu was adjusted and we had to pay 3 to 7€ extra for almost every dish.
The only plus was the staff who were super friendly.
In short, a frader.
This one was so moldy that you absolutely don't want to shower there or whatever very humid and an attack on your health. You can't do this to your guests. In our arrangement we could just eat from the menu they had said, but what turned out to be our menu was adjusted and we had to pay 3 to 7€ extra for almost every dish.

Stuck in the past: avoid Fletcher Hotel De Broeierd
Do yourself a favor and find another hotel. Why? That will quickly become clear once you read about our experience.
Stepping into the room immediately transports you back to the nineties. A dated interior is one thing, but the lack of modern amenities is downright bothersome. You'll still find an old-fashioned RJ-45 internet jack in the wall—highly progressive for the end of the last century—but there isn't a single USB port to charge your phone. Furthermore, there is no thermostat, making it impossible to adjust the temperature in the already chilly (though clean) room.
The real letdown happens at night. Because of a far too soft mattress and a severely sagging box spring, the bed turned into an uncomfortable hammock. Add the extreme lack of soundproofing to the mix—we got to enjoy loudly chatting neighbors until 2 AM alongside unmistakable toilet noises—and the result is a dramatically poor night's sleep.
The following morning, a perfectly fine shower fortunately offered some comfort, after which we sat down for breakfast at 8:15 AM. The coffee and the fresh croissant were good, but the rest turned out to be a complete joke. All hot dishes, including the scrambled eggs and pancakes, were cold. The bacon had been heated for so long that it was reduced to rock-hard, tasteless shreds that disintegrated at the slightest touch. It was simply inedible.
In short: the service provided is severely subpar and the entire hotel exudes faded glory. Save yourself the disappointment and keep looking for something better.

Enschede is a nice city but don't go to that Fletcher hotel
A room with lots of dust and moldy window frames.
A bathroom with a very moldy ceiling and tiled walls. In short, too dirty to shower there, this is definitely not good for your health. I can't believe they rent out rooms like that.
