Chipiona - a hidden gem
Chipiona is a new find for us but is our absolute favourite now. Hotel agaro cannot be faulted, fabulous seafront location, beautiful clean rooms (book early if you want a terrace /sea view room, we’re already booked in for June 27 and haven’t been on our September holiday yet) , the breakfast menu is wonderfully fresh with a station for freshly cooked eggs/pancakes/smoothies. The pool area is always clean and looks over the sea front, staff are always welcoming and friendly. The fragrance that permeates the hotel is dreamy! The terrace bar area is a delight serving food all day and drinks, prices are incredibly low in line with all the local hostelries.
Chipiona itself is a lovely little town , typically spanish and untouristy which is what we love, with Cadiz coming a close second. The people are always very friendly and welcoming, especially when you make the effort to speak the language. The local market is wonderful also doubling as a great place to eat and drinks. The sherry bars are a delight , everything is very low in price.
I could wax lyrical relentlessly about Chipiona and hotel Agaro, it is 100% a fabulous place to go but don’t tell everyone!

Bad experience
The value for money of this hotel is terrible and our experience was very negative. Regarding the parking, I understand that spaces are limited, but the management was dreadfully opaque. They told us they couldn't know when spaces became available because "the system doesn't indicate which rooms have parking," an absurd excuse that made us suspect they reserve them based on favoritism. They promised to let us know if any became free and they never did.
As if that weren't enough, they assigned us a ground floor room whose windows looked directly onto the parking lot—you could open the curtain and touch the cars—forcing us to live with the curtains closed the entire stay due to an absolute lack of privacy. On their website, they sell a misleading image showing only rooms with views of the sea or a pool where, by the way, the music volume is excessive.
When we complained at the front desk about the room, the staff's treatment was distant, unfriendly, and with a totally rehearsed script. They told us to come back the next day at 12:00 to manage a change. When we went exactly at the time they indicated, they told us that "we should have gone earlier" and that, to change rooms, we had to leave the room immediately and stay three hours without a room until 15:00. We decided not to change. Without a doubt, the worst hotel I have stayed in for the price paid.

To repeat, although they should improve the buffet food
exceptional location, good facilities, most of the staff efficient and very friendly (the restaurant waitresses serious and not very approachable, the waiters both in the restaurant and at the pool very friendly, especially Paco). To improve the catering. Breakfast was very good, but lunch (we only had dinner there one day) was just okay. Too many sauces and little variety on the grill. The vast majority of the guests are domestic, which I appreciate because the hotel's schedules are adapted to our customs. Not too crowded, which allows you to really enjoy your stay. We will definitely be back!

Chipiona - what a find !
I cannot recommend Hotel Agaro enough, anyone considering choosing this hotel should DEFINITELY make a reservation. From the moment you enter reception you are made to feel welcome, the inviting fragrance that fills the air to say the least!
Our room was magnificent, I’m sure we had the best room int he hotel, balcony overlooking the seafront, magical. The rooms, indeed the whole hotel is so clean, fresh and bright. The breakfast has everything anyone could ask for, all fresh and appetising every morning. The bar/terrace area overlooking the seafront is very inviting, with very good prices. Likewise the pool/ bar area, so clean with a very friendly barman for whom nothing is any trouble.
Chipiona is a fantastic town , not at all “touristy” which we love, we stayed briefly last year, couldn’t wait to spend longer this year and will definitely return as part of our exploring this fabulous, unspoiled area of Spain.
We hired a car which made it easy to transfer from Jerez airport and also to visit surrounding areas, Cadiz, Sanlucar de Barrameda, Puerto de Santa Maria, both amazing especially if you’re sherry aficionados as we are, on which note a visit to Cesar Florido in Chipiona is a must, it’s very own bodega with most local bars serving their many varieties of sherry which is fabulous .
I cannot speak highly enough of Hotel Agaro, Chipiona and surrounding areas, it has carved a special place in my heart and I cannot wait to return.

Very nice
Really nice hotel. You cross the boulevard and stand with your feet in the sand. Perfect breakfast, they bake pancakes of bake eggs specially for you, or make a smoothie with fresh fruit or vegetables. Parking cost €15 per day or you park, when available in a street nearby.
