Idyllic and peaceful "get away from it all" place in the sun with spectacular views. Book up!!

If you want the perfect "get away from it all" place then this is the one for you. The isolation in the mountains is idyllic, but with the island being so small you are never far from anywhere. Rafael and Monique were wonderful hosts and made you feel so welcome in the property, whilst being respectful of your privacy. It is so pleasing to see the care and attention that has been put into the property by Rafael and Monique to make the property enjoyable and "fit for purpose" for a holiday in the sun. The views over the valley from any of the three terraces are spectacular and worth the admission price alone! We would have absolutely no hesitation in recommending this property. Yes, it is a little on the pricey side, but just look at what you are getting.
Three separate terraces and a genuine "rustic" property that provides such a welcome when you get back from your day's trips and travels. Wi-Fi was fine for phone and tablets, but not strong enough in the evening for Firestick TV. Mercadona supermarket near by in Ingenio.
There is a large drive to park the car, but make sure you reverse into the drive. Clutch can get smokey trying to reverse up the drive! Space is very tight to get turned around on the narrow road to get parked. There were dogs barking during the evening that upset the perfect tranquility, but better than rowdy beer swilling holiday makers!
There were a number of flies around the property, so get some fly spray for the evening. No electric kettle and cooking is difficult when there is only a hob and microwave. Rustic, yes, but some evenings you just want to eat in and enjoy the property, terraces and views. A cooker/oven would have been preferred.

A Place to Dream About

Imagine a beautiful house built with so much love and passion that you can see it in every detail, then add in the kind of views that will leave you gasping at the sheer perfection of it all, plus add a plunge pool with its very own waterfall because with out a doubt the weather is going to be good. No, you are not in paradise but a little bit of heaven on Earth - the Casa Oronado in Gran Canaria - a two bedroom villa built with love and dedication by its owner, Rafael.
This is in the undiscovered part of Gran Canaria that the majority of tourists rush past in their haste to get to the beaches of the south. What they are missing out on is nature at its purest and fascinating history. The nearby Museum of Guadadeque is a real eye-opener as it explains the Spanish conquest of the island and gives an insight into the people who lived here before them. The Guadadeque area is a wonderful, unspoiled place with some incredible walking trails and there are some lovely restaurants in the town of Ingenio and the nearby village of Agüimes. I would recommend Casa Oronado 100 percent - we absolutely loved our stay there. If you like a place that's authentic, beautiful, peaceful and has been created with love and care then this is the right choice for you.

Fabulous.

Casa Oronado in Gran Canaria really does have to be seen and experienced to believe.
Having spent one week in the award winning Monti anfi we were a little disappointed to be moving on and had some reservations about what to expect at Casa Oronado. However these were quickly washed away. We were met there by the father and daughter owners who clearly are proud and rightly so of their slice of heaven perched on the side of the valley close to Ingenio.
Rustic charm is a hackneyed phrase which some times can be code for run down, this delightful home is truly rustic, exquisite and assembled with love and care.
I spent the afternoon we arrived just taking photographs of the house, every spot and corner has been arranged to please the eye.
The emphasis is: sit and relax. There are three very distinct sun worshiping areas, each taking full advantage of where the sun or indeed shade may be through out the day. Each spot has its own table and chairs for dining. All have a fabulous ever changing view over the valley and distant mountains. There is an inviting plunge pool which measures around 8 feet square with it's own little water fall. A stone built barbecue awaits your coals.
The inside living area is spotless, warm and comfortable. Every conceivable form of crockery and kitchen utensil has been provided. There is a large fridge freezer, fancy electric hob along with a combination microwave.
The shower room again was spotless with plenty of towels even though there were only two of us. The shower was a trendy twin head arrangement with immaculate tiles and white work and loads of hot water.
The two bedrooms were very pretty and exactly what you would expect from a rustic house nestled into a Canarian hillside. The double bed was comfortable and there was plenty of storage. I loved the attention to detail about the place, the old wooden ornaments and decorative past used dairy tools. But - the view, the view, the view.
Peace perfect peace. The only sounds are natural, wind through the olive trees, turkeys and chickens chuntering, warblers chirping and a lone donkey braying.
We were invited to enjoy their hillside garden and help ourselves to the fruit trees, so tea was mango, passion fruit and fresh lemon in our gin and tonic. Our host even arrived the following day with more freshly picked mango. Delightful.
This has been a truly fabulous holiday accommodation.
Very many thanks.

Beautifully restored old house with the local touch

The owner lives in the town and was extremely hospitable and kind - he even arrived at 8.30 one morning with warm, fresh bread for us! The house was comfortable, with an excellent shower. It has a very pleasant rural outlook and gorgeous outdoor seating areas. Tranquil and secure. Liked the sounds from the valley below - birdsong, a donkey and a turkey! Wished we'd stayed longer than the two nights.
Quite cool in the house, but it was winter - maybe a small heater would be a good addition.

casa divina en maravillosa localización

The house is fantastic, with 2 bedrooms, 1 bathroom, kitchen with all things that you can need, beautiful living room and 3 outside areas, near front door, with a little swimingpool, at the backdoor with space to enjoy the sun and the last, but not least, with beautiful vistes over Guayadeque barranco. The location is very good, in a quiet place, with views over the ravine and at the same time with easy and quick access to Ingenio city, less than 5 minutes by car from a Mercadona supermarket and a direct access to GC-1. The owner is very kindly and informative.
