Extremely helpful reception staff

So happy we were staying in this hotel
We stayed in this hotel in May 2025 and unfortunately my husband was taken ill (nothing to do with the hotel stay) and ended up in the local hospital. I am 99% sure the gentleman on reception was called Miguel and he was so so helpful to me in calling an ambulance, translating from English to Spanish and vice versa with the Ambulance staff and myself and also to Jesus, who was also extremely helpful to me in my hour of need. The staff on breakfast duty were also very nice and friendly and had time for a quick chat to ask me how my day was and how my husband was as I was obviously dining alone.
I had to book an additional 3 days in this hotel and Miguel also made this transaction hassle free.
The downside for this hotel, is their wine and bar food selection, they had 2 types of white wine and a handful of bar snacks.
The views are amazing and the hotel is really nice, but I just thought for a 5 star hotel the bar food could be more adventurous and definitely the white wine list needs to be upgraded.
Hopefully we will be back for a less adventurous stay.

Exquisite, good value, vintage & romantic hill top, sea view hotel built in 1917!

We arrived in Santander from Oviedo by tourist coach. This is a charming city. This hotel sits on a high end housing estate which boasted one of the wealthiest Spanish man’s mansion next door - the owner of Bank Santander. The hotel is old but well refurbished, maintained & charming. Throughout the gardens, foyers, patios, lounge, restaurants, even the function rooms are pretty & photo worthy. With or without portraits of people included, its just awesome!
At the main entrance of the lobby, there was this vintage elevator with a timber folding door, though tiny in the middle of the grand stairwell, it has been modernised & properly maintained you would not feel eerie riding in it (if you know what I mean)!

Just lacking a pool

Arrived fairly late off a ferry but simple enough to find and ample parking. Lovely old style building. Staff could not have been more helpful, got asked so many times did I need assistance with luggage! Rooms old style too and antique furniture but bathroom top notch very modern. Has a spa but didn’t have time to try it out sadly. Worth a visit for breakfast alone, Buck’s Fizz anyone? Salmon, hot buffet, tonnes of pastries and fruit. Restaurant and cafe plus room service so no need to walk into town though only took 15 mins. If you partake of a few too many beverages down there get a taxi back up the hill! Kettle, minibar and nice toiletries supplied plus slippers. Second visit for us and not the last.

I would return anytime

For me this is the hotel with the best “ambiance” in Santander. I’m not saying the best hotel. I’m saying the best “ambiance”. A mixt of decadence, lux, comfort, history... I love the hotel. Moreover, it is close to the hiconic residence of Emilio Botín: il Promontorio. I love it I love it and I will return.

Elegant and genuine

This hotel might be considered if the best is Santander.
I stayed there twice.
It was closed some time for renovation and renewal.
The view is amazing to the bay of Santander.
Staff are very helpful.
Entrance has about 10 stairs to reach the lobby.
It is a royal place.
