Fantastic!!!

We have just returned home and I can honestly say this is definitely the best hotel we have stayed in throughout Greece and we have been to many over the past 30 years. You are met with a warm welcome the moment you step foot in there you are given a welcome drink and then shown to reception where you are checked in and then your suitcases are taken to your room for you , then your given a quick walk around your room and shown everything. We stayed in a pool view room which was just amazing big comfortable bed walk in shower with two rain showers all very modern and clean .All the staff are always happy and smiling we felt like part of the family by the end of the holiday from the Manager to the bar staff, reception team everyone in involved in making are stay so amazing . I will try and name some members of staff sorry if I miss anyone. Yanis my new adopted brother always happy and smiling he is one funny guy but also very professional at the same time, George the Bar manager is the best always had time for us and again very funny guy I never had to wait for another drink I was topped up in no time . Steffanos work on the beach and was always smiling and great fun to be around he worked so hard in the heat up and down stairs carrying food and drinks for guests and of course we can’t forget our Ellie so sweet and polite nothing was to much trouble always smiling and keeping our drinks flowing. We can not wait to see you all again next year. We really appreciate you welcoming us into your amazing hotel and for making memories for life that we will never forget yamas

Hotel Sunshine ,Kamari Beach Mama Mia

We had a lovely time here. The hotel is in a great location ,just steps away from the beach and on the quieter end of the strip. Plenty of bars & restaurants to choose from in close proximity. So let's break this review down in sections starting with arrival. The taxi from the airport (10 mins, £12) will drop you off at the bus stop next to bakery on corner as there is no access to hotel from the back road, entrance is then a short walk along the strip and through the open air restaurant at front of hotel.
Reception:
On arrival we were greeted with big smiles by Dimitris & Prezart, who after a quick easy process carried our cases to our room. Both were very informative and cheerful.
Prezart was a mind of information over the duration of our holiday. Nadia also worked on reception, she was in training and always had a big smile for you and always very polite. ( I left one of my travel games for her)Paschalis on night duty always had a good night for you.
Room:
This was fine, basic but clean though with the smallest balcony I've ever had and not a very good view (room113). However the shower was great and the room was cleaned every day as well as the bed linen & towels. The safe was free which is a good touch.overall we were happy with our room as really how much time do you spend in it!
Pool:
We didn't use the pool as we prefer the beach especially as it's on your doorstep and the sunbeds are free for the hotel's guests. The pool looked nice though, not very big and no pool bar and I could imagine it being a bit of a suntrap. Towels are available for both beach & pool for a 5 euro deposit which you get back once returned.
Restaurant:
Breakfast was what you expect, all the usual, a mix of continental & English. We enjoyed it and had no complaints .The staff: The lovely Eva worked hard and always smiling and friendly. Ellie mostly worked the bar and always had a smile as well. My favourite was Giannis as he was always laughing & joking whilst still being professional.
Stefanos waited on us at the beach, always busy, always happy and he worked very hard. We had some great banter with him especially as I kept him busy with the drinks. The restaurant itself is open air overlooking the beach which is great but I think they really miss an opportunity here. It's open to the public at lunch and evening times but apart from a menu stand on the promenade(strip) you wouldn't really know its a restaurant as the tables are not set out that well, no menu's on tables and nothing really to identify it as a restaurant, and it shuts at 9pm as does the bar???!! I can't really comment on the food as we ate out every night as there are so many places to go, we did however have lunch on the beach, we had the mini burger platter which was lovely. Other guests that did eat there said the food was great though.
Bar:
Giorgos was the main person behind bar and after a while we got the banter going between us Ellie also worked the bar day times. There's not really a night time here and no real atmosphere as it shuts at 9pm!!! No idea why because seriously who goes to bed at that time on holiday!!
Out and about:
As mentioned earlier, the hotel, is in a great location plenty of restaurants & bars, spoilt for choice really so don't stay on strip as more at back and up the hills. Our favourite restaurant was Black Stone not far from the bus stop. Do get the taxi boat to Perissa, 8 euro's each way and great fun if the sea is choppy!! Not much in Perrisa but worth a visit. See Prezart at reception if you want to do any trips or want information as he is very helpful. We did the private guide (5hours 250 euros)
to see the main sites Qia, Fira etc well worth it and Chris our driver was very knowledgeable . Also go to the open air cinema as it's a great experience, We see Mama Mia (of course) films rotate every 3 day's so keep eye on notice boards on strip for days of screening.
Summing up:
Overall we loved it here, Kamari is a nice resort, plenty to do but relaxing, bars shut by 1am at the busy end and midnight at the quieter end. For me the only let down is the beach itself, yes I knew it was a pebble shingle beach, but it was quite a mission getting out of the sea as the beach is a little slope and your feet sink and slide especially when sea is choppy. Nearly everyone struggled to get out of the sea, part of the beach entertainment was watching people struggle getting out So if you have walking difficulties be aware of the strain that will be put on your legs getting out of the sea as I mention this through my experience! Would we go back?? We are considering it at the moment as we did really like it here! Many people return year after year at the Hotel Sunshine!

Lovely holiday in Kamari

Location- perfect as only a short transfer. (30mins) from Airport and on the beachfront. Within walking distance of several nice bars and restaurants.
Atmosphere- personal, friendly and helpful. All staff were welcoming. There was on beach service with drinks and food or you could dine in the restaurant. Towels were available for the beach for a deposit and you could change these as often as needed. Free to use sunbeds on the beach was fantastic!
Rooms- the rooms were clean and tidy with towels replaced daily. There was a fridge, safe kettle etc. only downside was for our room we could not use the balcony for anything other than to use the washing line, as it was very narrow in size (this looked similar for most rooms).
Food- we went on a bed and breakfast basis, there were nice choices for breakfast from fruit to pastries and eggs , beans etc. We also ate lunch a few times- there was a variety of options from lighter bites (bruschetta/ pita) to a full meal (gyros/ salads / pizzas) and lovely cocktails and coffee / juices.
Value for money- good value for money
We would recommend and return :-)

Fantastic little hotel

We stayed at this very good 3* hotel for 2 weeks in July. It is a small family run hotel metres away from the beach Breakfast is taken in the open bar area at the front of the hotel. Breakfast is just what you expect in Greece and we enjoyed it. We only had a standard room which was compact with a small balcony but there was loads of storage, a free to use safe, a fridge, a kettle and an extremely comfortable bed. The bed linen and towels were of a very high quality and the room was kept immaculately clean. The shower was good but the cubicle was pretty snug however we managed. We had an issue with the air con but the staff quickly sorted that out for us.
Sun loungers are free on the beach for hotel residents, beach towels available for €5 deposit and although there is waiter service on the beach there is no obligation to buy.
I would really recommend this great little hotel which is in the best location- on the strip, on the beach and close to the public bus stop to Fira. I also suggest visiting the Harinero bakery next door.
We did notice that that the drinks served at the bar were more expensive than the majority of nearby bars but that is a small issue and overall we had a fantastic holiday!
