Beautiful, very Greek feel- not like a overstimulating commercial hotel. Calming, welcoming.

This was such a beautiful and thoroughly relaxing hotel with a charm that you would struggle to find anywhere else. The location is also ideal- 20 minutes to the old town and 20 minutes to a beautiful cove beach or 5 minutes to an even nearer beach with a nice green walk where you can see the sunset and turtles hatch if you’re lucky (I did twice, 5 minutes from this hotel). Staff were helpful and kind. Feel well-rested from this holiday long after I got back.

Highly recommended small hotel

The Mantenia is a nice little family run hotel on the edge of Rethymnon.
The small number of rooms makes it quiet. No mass tourism!!! The care is very individual and very nice. The device is expedient. It is very clean, daily cleaning of rooms and regular change of towels and also of bed linen. Breakfast is delicious and adequate. The beach is less than 5 min walk. Various taverns, bars and shops are also within a 5-minute walk. The old town of Rethymnon is about 4 km away, there are buses every half hour. There's a stop outside. All in all, top hotel, we felt very comfortable here and spent very nice holidays!

Family-run hotel, very nice and welcoming

I wish I could give it six stars. We had a spacious and cozy room with a comfortable bed, fridge, convenient bathroom, place for the luggage, and everything else that just could be needed. The family running the hotel is so super nice, welcoming and helpful! Our talks with the lady and her son (?) are one of the best impressions. It is the classic family-run hotel with all its advantages if you like such type of hotels: it really felt like coming back home! I was also really impressed by the pool: it is really very big for such a small hotel (I would say it suites a 4**** or 5***** hotel), very clean, and it was very nice to use it before going to the sea of after it, as the water in the pool was at the time of our visit warmer than the sea water. The garden is maintained well, the room was clean, the sea is just in 5 minutes of walk along a picturesque farm, there are pretty many good cafes and restaurants nearby. I liked some small details like showers on the way from the beach and near the pool (exactly where you need them). I strongly recommend this hotel.

Horrible hotel

Relaxed at this hotel with her husband in July 2014. We still remember this hotel. They didn't put us in the room we ordered. Lived in a basement. Rooms were cleaned very badly. No change of towels. They could even pick it up off the floor and hang it back up. Food with little choice. Also got a comment not to eat more than two eggs per person. Almost no one was swimming in the pool. No comfort at all. Also came back sick from their room service. How these positive comments are not clear.

Beautiful family hotel in a prime location

The Mantenia is a small family-run hotel in a prime location (near the restaurant). The rooms are clean, adequately furnished. Good breakfast with eggs of own chickens. Nice pool, less than five minutes to the beach. A dream!!
