Peaceful Rest in Hydra
Reviews of other hotels in Hydra mention noise at night from partygoers in the port area bars and restaurants. However, despite being really close to the ferry dock and restaurants, no crowd noise reached my suite at PortaDelMare. The room has stone walls nearly two feet thick while being really well furnished and decorated. Petros is an excellent and very helpful host while Katarina did an wonderful job of cleaning. FOr a return to Hydra, I would definitely check here first.

Lack of professionalism
You are never sure about your reservation at this accommodation.
I contacted the owner by phone about the dates of our stay and while the reservation was made and he sent me the payment link with a deadline of one day to deposit the amount, when I tried to pay the charge was not accepted.
I asked by sms that he send me the link again but he never replied
When I called him to ask what was going on, he had to answer that the room had been given through booking elsewhere.
Lack of professionalism and unreliability to the maximum extent!!! Unacceptable behavior!

Horrible Host and property almost ruined our stay!
Pros:
- location, location, location! Steps off the main promenade of Hydra with a multitude of restaurants, shops and a vibrant boating industry.
- well appointed suite with boutique bathroom/shower amenities, thick, embroidered towels, gourmet coffee maker and pods (no refills tho).
**Cons**:
- We were told "we could check in anytime" and someone would be there at reception to greet us. We arrived at 1:30 p.m. and our room wasn't ready and staff didn't speak English.
- We didn't get the suite we booked as shown on the app. We messaged "Petros", the host, to verify we would get the suite pictured after booking as others had commented they did not get the pictured suite either. He stated something about the color scheme of the room and it sounded like the picture so we thought we would get it. We instead got a dark (1 window in the entire place) smaller suite that was inferior. No view from the suite at all.
- the first night the A/C did not work well (actually, the entire stay) - the vent pointed down so froze the first floor and it was sweltering hot in the loft!
- We told Petros this the next morning and his immediate, defensive answer was, "we had a very hot Summer and you are the first person to complain about it"! (So, I am a liar, basically). He said he would "check it" and then message me. He did and stated we didn't have the A/C on the right setting and he fixed it. When we checked it, it was the same exact settings we had it on (he actually made it 3' warmer)!
- After our very uncomfortable first night, we stated that we wanted him to resolve our issues, including a better suite. He replied he could move us to a larger suite up the road. We agreed and said we would move at 6 p.m. as we had just settled in at a private beach resort that we took a ferry to and paid $160€ for all day. His response was, "you need to move now or we can't do it" . We stayed where we were and hoped for the best. We did insist he put a fan in the loft and he did - it made it somewhat bearable, but A/C was still not "cold".
- the loft had very low rafters and we hit our heads constantly (2-3x daily). Stairs to and from loft were steep, narrow and very dangerous.
- the bathroom was super tiny and the shower water rushed accross the entire floor (on purpose). The floor and bath mat were constantly soaked wet the entire time (bizarre).
- the path leading to the Airbnb had dog poop all over it the 2nd day - it remained like that our entire stay. We literally had to avoid stepping in it like a "minefield" daily. Very gross (and Petros, host, walked the same path daily - but no one cleaned it up)!!
- overall, our host showed a lack of friendliness, honest concern, or motivation to ensure our "complete satisfaction" with our stay. We were very surprised with his gruff, unfriendly demeanor as a supposed "Super Host" (we are too in the US, BTW)! We would NOT recommend this property due to these many reasons.

The suite is a small, dark room
The photos are misleading. I booked here thinking I would have a harbor view and a terrace. I found myself in a small, very dark room. It had absolutely nothing to do with it. The name of the hotel is usurped, misleading and deceptive.

Charming hotel steps from the harbor!
My girlfriends and I stayed here just one night during our trip to Greece, and I'm regretting that we waited til the end of our trip to come here! If I'd had time, I would have stayed a few more days!
Pedros was very hospitable and the rooms and garden area are charming, well-appointed and just overall beautiful! If I ever make my way back to Hydra, I will stay here again and for longer!
