Beautiful location, amazing beach and pools
We are enjoying the beautiful location of the hotel, especially the stunning beach with crystal-clear and wonderfully calm sea. It is definitely one of the highlights of our stay.
The infinity pools are absolutely breathtaking, with beautiful views and a very relaxing atmosphere. The gentleman taking care of the pools is very kind, friendly and helpfull.
The drinks are tasty, and the service is friendly. The gyros at the beach bar is delicious and definitely worth trying.
We also have no problem finding sun loungers, which is a big plus.
The staff is very welcoming and helpful, and we appreciate that they are making an effort to make our stay enjoyable. Special thanks to Spyros, who is very kind and willing to help.
Overall, we are enjoying our stay and especially appreciate the beautiful beach, calm sea, amazing pools and friendly service.

A let down for a ‘luxury’ resort
We came for our honeymoon to Mitsis Summer Palace at the end of August. We believed we had booked a luxury 5-star hotel and had spent the wedding planning process looking forward to this, but have come away feeling misled.
It’s easy to start with the positives.
- The hotel, where renovated, is beautiful. The infinity pools and al a carte restaurants are all done to a high standard. The rooms are spotless and everywhere is clean.
- There is always somewhere to get a sunbed, albeit maybe not around the pool but there are always some available on the beach.
- We booked a Gazebo experience on our final afternoon and it was pure bliss to chill out with waiter service for 3 hours - the fruit platter was a highlight!
- Ahmet makes The Med bar. He is so welcoming and makes the best cocktails!
- I am coeliac and was able to eat reasonably well here. Breakfast was a highlight with gluten free pancakes. Pizza is also available upon request in the Med bar.
This leads onto the negatives, which I feel that we have more of:
- Before arriving to the hotel, I reached out to them to let them know I was coeliac. They said they could accommodate this and with arriving late, they could prepare me a gluten free sandwich. I am also type 1 diabetic so it is important I was able to eat. Upon arriving at the hotel, this request had been ignored and there was nothing gluten free available in the Panorama restaurant.
- When booking, we read that it was a buffet service. Upon arrival, we were told it had changed to table service. You are given a menu and you order from that - but this menu changes twice a week, with only a handful of options for main meals, and it is very repetitive. You must also order your drinks from the waiters, and there are no self serve drinks machines on the resort at all.
- The Panorama restaurant doesn’t have enough seating to meet capacity - we have queued every morning for a seat. This is something we have never experienced at an all inclusive hotel.
- The service in every restaurant is shocking. There have been multiple times we have been waiting for food for over 40 minutes and up to an hour - even causing my blood sugar to drop low due to waiting. Drinks are not brought to you, or parts of your meal missing such as sides. It is a common occurrence across each restaurant, so is a widespread issue across the hotel. We gave up some nights and went into Kardamena to find the 5* service we were hoping for - which is an expense we hadn’t planned for.
- There was an evening where we went to the Den barbecue bar. Our drink order was taken as we sat down, but it was obvious that people going to the bar were taking priority over those who had booked into the restaurant. One waiter even told me he would sort my drink when the queue had gone down, and never did so. The Den was our worst experience - the food took so long to come and our sides were forgotten, and we had to ask about them twice. The grill plate was not hot enough to cook our skewers properly either.
- In an afternoon, the Med bar next to the infinity pools only has one member of staff working the bar. This means the queue is often long and it can take over 15 minutes to get a drink. This isn’t the waiters fault, but rather management for poor staffing.
- The portion sizes are SO small. My husband has said multiple times about this, and it shows when lunch portions are the same as evening portions.
- The areas that are renovated are lovely, but what you aren’t seeing online when booking is the dated reception and Panorama restaurant. This, in my opinion, massively lets the resort down.
- The Med bar was our favourite, but Alexis massively lets this down. He puts on an act when you first dine there, then shoves his card to review him in your face once you leave. He constantly gets orders wrong, or misses parts out, and seems to become offended when you ask for missing items, such as milk with your tea.
We did speak to hotel relations about our experience on our 3rd day. Originally, it was just an apology which didn’t meet our expectations, but when lodging a complaint through the Mitsis website, they were quick to act. Unfortunately, this still did not rectify the issues with service with our food taking well over an hour on the next night and completely forgetting about our dessert order.
If you are considering this for a luxury holiday, I definitely would look elsewhere. We love Kos, it is a very special island to us with getting engaged here, but I would highly recommend to book elsewhere to get the high quality hospitality the Greek islands are known for.

Great stay with great staff
Stayed for a week end of August in the newer side of Summer Palace . Room was great, we ran out of hair conditioner during our stay & reception/ house keeping had it topped up within 10mins .
Staff are great, young glass collector on the beach was very polite and always helpful. Thanks to Alan who looked after us in the main restaurant, remembering our drinks order each visit.
Huge thanks to your hostess Elena always smiling, full of life and conversation, the star of the show & a huge asset to Mitsis brand.
