A pleasant experience!
My wife, my baby daughter and I stayed in Filoxenia Hotel for 5 nights.
The good: The room was clean and spacious enough for us and our baby girl's crib. We also had hot water and free Wi-Fi, which is not a given, when one stays in one-star hotels. The view from our room (128) was good and it was quiet, despite the very windy weather. The hotel is located 1 minute away from the central square of Chios, one minute from the pedestrian zone and one minute from the popular seaside cafe-bars and restaurants.The best part was Ioanna and Eftihia (the girls at the reception), who were very freindly and helpful and accomodated all of our needs!
The not so good: The rparking of our car, was a bit of a problem, but we managed. We used the non-parking pavement right outside the hotel for our short stops and the free municipal parking (400m away) for the overnight parking. Also the stairs were a bit tiresome to climb, especially since I had to carry our baby girl and all of her belongings :D.
Overall, it was a great stay and we would recommend it to travellers who need a simple room to stay, right at the center of the town of Chios.

Totally disappointed
I'll start with the only positive: the staff. Everyone was really kind, smiling and willing to help. Unfortunately, however good the service is, it cannot cover the hotel's tragic situation.
The hotel is unacceptable and far away from what one would expect for his holiday. As a Greek woman, I am ashamed that such a beautiful island destination is represented by accommodation in this state. It is an insult to Greek tourism.
I can't understand how it's still being streamed by well-known booking platforms. Although our reservation was not made through Booking, the fact that it appears there makes me seriously question the rating criteria.
We changed three different rooms and none were better than the previous one. Microscopic spaces, outdated equipment, uncomfortable and worn-out beds, rusty spots, obvious humidity, minimal or non-existent storage space and balconies in a condition that does not fit in a hotel that welcomes people. The image we encountered gave the feeling that there has been no substantial renovation or proper maintenance in too many years.
The photos do not reflect reality and the overall experience was huge disappointment. It is one of the few places I would never return to and would not recommend to anyone.
All that deserves compliments are the people who work there. The hotel, however, needs a radical renovation and not just small interventions. It is truly a shame for such a beautiful island to leave this impression on its visitors.

50 Stairs!
This is an old hotel that has been nicely renovated. The staff are extremely helpful & speak good English. The rooms are large & clean. The shower has great pressure, although I'm not a fan of shower curtains. WiFi is excellent. Very good value for money. The BIG drawback for the elderly, people with babies & people with mobility issues is the amount of stairs. There's no lift & 30 steep stairs just to get to the reception. If you're staying on the floor above reception, then it's another 20 steep stairs. For the fit & healthy, no problem.

Satisfactory.
Small room, helpful staff, pretty clean. There's no elevator. The balcony is small. Very close to the port of Chios.

Old fashioned cozy hotel close to everything
Nice old-fashioned hotel very central in the city of Chios close to the port and bus station. Very affordable breakfast can be bought for 5Eur. Breakfast is served at a nearby cafe. Helpful staff. I was given a code for the entrance so I could rest in the lobby even though the reception had not opened. The rooms were well cleaned but the towels were the stickiest. Small balcony and responsive. There is no lift so the luggage needs to be carried as the reception and the rooms are not at street level.
