A paradise

We had a room upstairs. Spacious and very comfortable. With balcony one towards the sea and the mountain. The sea is in two minutes. Beach with almure and right and left. Quiet and calm. Excellent service and very friendly owners.

Tranquility on the beach

A lovely place. The owners are very friendly and helpful. The room is very clean and has everything you need. It is attractively furnished and the bed is comfortable. The location is quiet and right next to the beach, accessed down a short path. Good family run taverna on the beach. The views from the rooms are amazing; both sea and mountain. Thank you very much a relaxing stay. Highly recommended.

Pleasant and peaceful stay

The owner was always very friendly. She informed us and gave advices of where to eat, supermarket, etc... We felt at home. We stayed in an apartment with a small terrace outside with a table, so it was very easy to get to know the others who were staying in the apartments close to ours. Good apartments, comfy bed with a net to protect from the insects. The owner also provided us a crib in the room for our 10 months baby. There's a kids playground in front of the apartments, which was excellent. Beach is really near, easy access by foot, and even if it could be a little rocky, if you walk a bit for the left, there are less rocks. I found it great because there wasn't a lot of people at the beach which was perfect. It was a very peaceful stay, during the evening we only heard the sound of the waves. It was a really good stay!

An quiet place go relax

There are only about five apartments at the Vrachos. Each apartment is different, and you can see that they are furnished with love for detail. We had a canopy bed - and there was even a red light in our bedroom ...
It was always very clean. The A/C worked perfectly (and even though i don't like A/Cs I slept well).
The only two things I didn't like was the mattress (it was really hard) and the lack of a shower curtain (but that's typical in Greece).
You can see the bach, from the forst floor at least.
Madame Grisoula (or Krisoula) is very helpful and gave us tips for hiking etc.
Frangokastello is a quiet place on this huge island, and it's no typical greek village. Wikipedia calls it "scattered settlement", the houses are lined up along the coast, But they are well within walking distance. There ar no big hotels in Frangokastello, the tourism is low key.
There are a few very nice beaches, the Imbros Gorge is near, and Chora Sfakion (and, by boat from there, beautiful Loutro), but a long drive from Plakias or from the north. That adds to the sleepy charm of the place.
There is a beach right in front of Vrachos, a small path from the apartments leads there. On the beach there is a cafe/taverna, with subeds in front. We used them and never had to pay. There are rocks in the water. The beautiful sandy beach in front of the castello nearby is probably more fun for children, at least when it's not windy.

Great views

Facilities were fine. Bed too hard for us though. Hard to find somewhere good to eat but supermarket close and good beach. Helpful owner. Fine for a couple of days. We loved the terrace with our ground floor apartment
