A Hidden Gem in Corfu
If you’re looking for a peaceful, relaxing holiday away from the crowds, this place is an absolute hidden gem. It’s perfectly located – just a 10-minute walk to the coast and around 5 minutes from the main strip – close enough to everything you need while still feeling calm and tranquil.
The hotel itself is beautiful, with lovely surroundings and simple, tasteful décor. Everything was spotlessly clean throughout our stay, and the relaxed atmosphere made it easy to switch off completely.
What really makes this place special, though, is Effie. She is an incredible host who genuinely can’t do enough for her guests. From the moment you arrive, she wants you to sit down, relax and enjoy yourself. She takes the time to understand what makes a great holiday for you and will do everything in her power to help make it happen. Her warmth, determination and can-do attitude are truly inspiring. Running such a lovely hotel largely on her own is an amazing achievement.
Because the hotel is small, with around 20 rooms, there’s a friendly, personal atmosphere. You naturally get to know some of the other guests if you want to, but there’s never any pressure. If you prefer to keep to yourself, that’s equally respected.
The food was fantastic. I highly recommend the Greek-style club sandwich from the pool bar – absolutely delicious! One of my favourite memories was Effie teaching me how to make tzatziki, which perfectly sums up how welcoming and generous she is.
The wildlife and surroundings added to the magic of the stay. We watched baby swallows take their first flight from the nests around the hotel while we were having breakfast one morning – such a special moment. Seeing the lizards, birds and even fireflies made us feel really connected to the natural beauty of Corfu.
For anyone visiting the island, I’d recommend hiring a car to explore some of Corfu’s incredible villages, beaches and viewpoints. And don’t forget mosquito spray!
The people of Corfu were wonderful too – everyone we met, from taxi drivers to restaurant staff and bar owners, was genuinely friendly and welcoming.
If we were the kind of couple who returned to the same place year after year, Hotel Violetta would be at the top of our list. In fact, it was so good that we genuinely hope to come back one day.
Beautiful hotel, beautiful weather, beautiful people and a beautiful holiday. We couldn’t have asked for more.

I Felt So Relaxed My Upper Back Pain Went
It was our first visit, so not really aware of what to expect, although the reviews at the time were all very positive apart from one, where they appeared to feel a little unwelcome compared to the many regular guests that this establishment attracts.
Not one of us felt unwelcome, on the contrary we were all made to feel most at home and nothing was too much trouble.
The owner, Efi was quite something.
Her genuine desire to ensure everyone's holiday was the best, left me in awe.
Because it is a small complex, we outnumbered the other guests, which I was very aware of and didn't want to feel like we were taking over. I mentioned this to Efi and she was kindly reassuring and the other guests were absolutely fine.
The accommodation was very pleasant and clean. The gardens were beautiful and the pool lovely and clean too.
It's not far to walk to shops and Tavernas. You can also walk along the beach to the next resort.
Corfu Town is amazing, we utilised the bus service to get there and back, which was very reliable.
Efi arranged a minibus for us on a few occasions, at a very reasonable price.
We had 6 vegetarians and one coeliac in our group and we were all provided with great food options, choosing to have meals in the evening as a result.
All of the staff were lovely, sorry, I can't remember their names.
It truly is an amazing place to stay
and a credit to the owner/s.

Perfect holiday
Our room was number 6, right near the pool with a small patio/seating area just outside. The rooms were modern and spotlessly clean and there was a small kitchen and dining area if you chose to prepare your own meals. There isn’t any air conditioning in the rooms but the fan worked well for us. There are lots of mosquitoes at the end of August so come prepared if you want to sleep with the windows open!
The Villa is a 5 minute walk to the high street with plenty of shops and restaurants, and a 10 minute walk to the beach. It is a pebble beach so we recommend swim shoes to make it more comfortable to walk on. Most bars/restaurants on the beach offer free use of their sunbeds if you are buying food/drink, and the sea is shallow enough to walk in even when you are quite far out. We recommend the garden restaurant and sea salt restaurant on the beach front, absolutely beautiful food!
Effie and her team were extremely welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast was more than adequate, traditional continental breakfast with ham, cheese, salad, toast, yogurt, fruit etc with the addition of fried/scrambled eggs and omelettes changing during the week. Effie makes the most delicious cakes and always brought us some when we ordered drinks around the poolside. She also organised a live singer to perform for guests one night which was amazing!
I can’t leave a review without mentioning the Villa’s pooch. He can be a little grumpy but loves to play and we absolutely adored his company. We had a lovely, relaxing holiday and can’t thank Effie and her team enough for making our stay so enjoyable. We will be back!
