Great Hostel

Great Hostel. Friendly staff, good sized rooms and fantastic location. Highly recommended if you're visiting Gibraltar. Really close to the big square with bars and restaurants and walking distance from the airport.

Needs urgent updating but the rooms are CLEAN?

The hostel is conveniently situated in the heart of Gibraltar, in close proximity to various entertainment options such as bars, restaurants, and shops for your convenience and enjoyment. From the exterior to the interior, the hostel appears worn and in dire need of a complete renovation and modernisation throughout every corner of the establishment. One of the most significant challenges I experienced during my entire stay at the hostel was the constant lack of hot water in the mornings for shaving purposes. The only source of hot water was in the communal showers, which made getting ready for the day a major inconvenience. While the shared bathrooms were satisfactory, do you think they could benefit from some tender loving care to bring them up to date and improve their condition? The outside areas (where people smoke) needed a good cleaning, because there were so many flies. It was pretty annoying trying to avoid them or walking through a big cloud of them.
If the hostel were to be renovated and updated with a fresh, modern design, it would undoubtedly attract a larger crowd of guests who would be more likely to return for future stays. In my personal experience, the living conditions felt incredibly similar to being in a military transit accommodation, with strict rules and minimal personal space. Overall, giving the condition of the rooms & shared bathroom somewhat dated, and as mentioned, needs some urgent updating, but the clearness of the hostel was good and the hostel felt safe.
In the future, I would definitely consider returning for more stays at this hostel, but only if there are significant updates and improvements to the facilities and amenities offered in the 2 bed dorms.

Travelling with a group of school teens.

Been here twice now to take part in the Gibraltar Drama festival. It is the absolute bare basics, some where to put your head down, to shower, have breakfast and have wifi access. If you’re spending all day out and about the bare basics is perfect. I’m used to hostel life so it suits me perfectly, for the kids I was working with it was their introduction to staying in a hostel, many their first time over seas. Twice I’ve had an amazing experience with this hostel, they are so accommodating, incredibly friendly, Abdul could not do enough for us and after a few days was remembering my breakfast order when I came through the door. I would love to see this place when it’s not booked out for local events and big groups and may have to come back alone for a solo trip at some point. My bed was comfortable, shower water was a bit hot and cold depending on the time but I’m aware Gibraltar is a bit old school compared to the UK and I love that, the only down side is that the corridors echo but that because they are all stone to keep the place cool on a hot day.

Worst night

I have stay their for 3 nights during the hot heat, their were no fans or air conditioners. The room was old and out of date. Everything was falling apart the shower was disgusting. The Tiles on floor was coming off. You couldn’t lock the door inside your room so I was scared that someone might have came in. They only except cash not card. Sorry, I wasn’t good enough to stay.

Great breakfast offered

Hostel has a cafeteria and offers lovely breakfast at very cheap prices. (See menu attached) I had the sausage toast with coffee and this was delicious it only cost £2.70.
Lovely terrace to enjoy coffee with a very chilling ambience.
