A beautiful interlude.
The experience begins under the best auspices: a large parking lot at a reasonable rate, a high-quality welcome, and a "Corot" suite that is simply magnificent, featuring a very beautiful terrace. The attention to detail is undeniable, especially through the excellent quality bath linens and high-end skincare products. In short, everything is almost perfect for enjoying a special moment.
The only downside of the stay: learning on-site that the spa was under renovation.
Before dinner, we tested the bar. The atmosphere is cozy, but the space remains limited with few seats. The outdoor terrace being privatized that evening, we were lucky that some customers got up to obtain a table. The menu offers cocktails typical of Relais & Châteaux, very well executed. On the other hand, the accompaniment (simple paprika peanuts) falls a bit short of expectations for such a standard. Another downside is the service: having requested that our glasses be brought to our table in the restaurant, the server showed some reluctance... Before complying, having no real choice as we were heading towards the room.
Due to a lack of available tables at the gourmet restaurant Le Corot, we dined at the Café des Artistes. The decor is somewhat impersonal, and the low ceiling creates a slight feeling of being cramped. The staff is very attentive, although we regret that the fish of the day was not presented to us at the time of ordering. On the menu, no set formula is imposed, but the arrangement of the appetizers and main courses is so well thought out that it beautifully leaves room for dessert. Additionally, the establishment offers a food and wine pairing, which is quite rare for a bistronomic table. A good time, despite a bit of a long wait for the desserts.
The next day, we enjoyed an excellent breakfast made up of very good products: freshly squeezed orange juice, a nice savory assortment (although the scrambled eggs were a tad overcooked), a very good selection of sweet items, and a server who was very attentive.
My advice: If you are looking for a purely romantic getaway, avoid staying there during the week, as the establishment hosts many seminars and professional dinners at that time.
In conclusion, a lovely interlude. We will surely return.
