The Prestige of the Ecrin

An exceptional break in Tignes: The Ecrin bears his name
Staying at Chalet L’Ecrin is not just a holiday stop, it’s a real immersion in what the Alps have to offer. If the setting is sumptuous, it is above all the excellence of the service that makes this stay an unforgettable experience.
An exceptional welcome and management
The real strength of this property lies in its team. I want to pay special tribute to the professionalism of Alee, the manager, and Jess at the reception. Both showed rigour and attention at every moment, from the beginning to the very end of my stay.
A special word for Jess, who is a real ray of sunshine at this property. Beyond its impeccable efficiency, its humility and natural benevolence brighten the daily lives of guests. It is rare to encounter such a combination of skill and humanity.
What makes this place unique:
The Savoyard Art of Living: A subtle blend of brushed wood and contemporary elegance that instantly invites serenity.
The Wellness Area: A magnificent spa, ideal for recovery after a day on the Espace Killy estate.
The Table of the Ecrin: A refined gastronomy that pays a vibrant tribute to local products.
In summary: Chalet L'Écrin is a valuable address for discerning travelers. Thanks to Alee and Jess, it not only makes you feel like a distinguished guest, but also like home. I recommend 100% and will be back very soon for the summer holidays.

Recommended for families

We stayed with Mark Warner as two families with 4 children from 9 to 18 over New Year. We've stayed at different Mark Warner hotels a number of times over the years, though this is the only ski hotel they have left. We knew what we were getting and the hotel ticked all the boxes for us. Lots of choice of food (3 starters, mains and desserts) every day, well cooked and tasty. Afternoon tea with home made cakes / cookies / soup. Everyone staying is British so if you want a genuine French experience this is not for you. Rooms well equipped 3* level, clean and quiet. Pool was cold but that didn't seem to hinder our kids from using it every day. Staff very friendly and helpful. Each bedroom is allocated its own lockable heated ski locker. Easy walk into the centre of Val Claret, though I did use the free ski bus to get to the lifts. I never had to wait more than 5 minutes each time for the bus and the stop was right outside. We pre-booked our equipment and the Intersport shop was one of the best I have ever experienced in 20+ years of skiing - you could spend a lot of money there!! A couple of our group used the recommended ski school and our youngest ended up in a group with just 3 other children so had great tuition. The only downside is the 6.40am flight from Gatwick. We live in Nottingham so chose to stay at the airport the night before. The upside from the flight is the combination of early time and on a Sunday meant there was no traffic jam on the roads up to the mountain.

Good chalet hotel for Skiing holiday

Went there with Mark Warner in March 25. Overall a very good week, helped by sunny days and reasonable snow.
The positives greatly outweighed a few negatives.
Overall comfortable and clean, enjoyed the sitting area with log fire in the evenings, amazing cakes provided for afternoon tea, delicious homemade food for dinner, beds comfortable, did not get disturbed by any noise at night, enjoyed the sauna, staff were super helpful and friendly.
The minor negatives for me were - slightly tired decor, swimming pool which had some hidden undersater steps you had to be aware of and jacuzzi that was cooler than the pool.
On evening out (when dinner is not provided) we went to L'Armoise Restaurant in Tignes Val Claret, which we really enjoyed.

I would only book through Mark Warner if you have to stay here

A bit disappointing overall. Firstly we booked through last minute.com and didn't realise the entire place is pretty much managed by Mark Warner so it felt like we a little left out of everything.
Check in was fine but very little was explained about the chalet as a non a guest who hasn't booked through Mark Warner. We had no idea how to check out in the morning or how to remove our car from the parking area as nobody works before 7am. It did state parking had a charge but was shocked at the cost of €25 a night considering we were guests of the hotel.
Room was nice however very rarely cleaned and the bare minimum of body wash was left each day. I think our bin was emptied one in the 5 days.
The chalet itself is a really beautiful lodge which loads of potentially. It just feels like it's managed on a very tight budget. Breakfast is a minimum and often food had run out. The spa is cold and run down, most of the facilities are not open or working properly.

A fabulous week at Chalet Hotel l’Ecrin

Had a weeks skiing with Mark Warner at Chalet Hotel l’Ecrin which was excellent. The hotel is very good and the staff were really helpful.
The food was excellent with a choice of 3 main meals each evening plus red or white wine. The rooms are a bit small but adequate. The bathroom was great with a shower over the bath. There is also a spar with a good size swimming pool and 2 saunas. The bar was well used each evening and quiz nights were held on 2 nights.
