Good meal, nice experience

Although the restaurant is on a main road, it is very quiet and we sat outside under cover, even though it was raining. Lovely view of the chateau. Staff couldn't have been more helpful, with a good command of English. Food very good, but the Chateaubriande was not how I expected it to be and not worth the extra that we paid for it. The Cafe Gourmand dessert was beautiful. Overall a good meal, but a little expensive.

Good place for a stopover

Saint Blancard is a teeny village on the way to somewhere else. We were on the way to Toulouse and stopped for a night. This little gem is located right opposite a gorgeous castle and rolling fields. Rooms were of a decent size, bed was comfortable and the shower was nice and hot (albeit tiny in true French style). There was a little tv and the host was super friendly and nice enough to give us a few glasses for our bottle of wine. Didn't stay for breakfast, a small village Lombez that had some cafes next to a stream and a supermarket not far away. We did have a great deal of difficulty finding this place though - the address on trip advisor kept taking us to a golf course located in a different village!!

Above expectation

Saint-Blancard is halfway between Rieux-Volvestre (a 'most beautiful village of france') and Auch (a nice place to spend a day).
So the Relais du Chateau was the logical choice, although we did not have high expectations. I'd even say we just hoped it would do.
On our cycle trip this was the third cold and wet day and we arrived mids a 24 hour pourdown. The worst weather of our entire holiday. Everything was there for a bad experience.
But they changed our mood in minutes. Very friendly reception and the heating already turned on in our room sinds noon. What a joy after an seemingly endless 3 mile climb against hard head wind and in pouring rain.
For the night they insisted we stored the bikes in the hall to the rooms with the hall door locked (In all honesty ,we were the only guests at the time, but still a nice gesture). They really care about there guests.
Also for dinner we did not expect much. Decent standard food was what we hoped for. But again we got a nice surprise. The salmon was cooked perfect and expecially the mushrooms were very tastefull.
Conclusion: this hotel is good value and above our expectations.

A very pleasant meal

Visited the restaurant at Le Relais du Chateau at lunchtime and had a really nice meal. The staff were very welcoming and helpful, the food tasty, and the service prompt. We will certainly be visiting again.

Bon accueil et Repas à un bon rapport qualité/prix

Je suis allée dans ce restaurant en famille, notamment avec ma mère sur fauteuil roulant, pour un repas le week end. Deux d'entre nous ont choisi le poisson du jour : du saumon accompagné de frites, pour les autres, entrecôte après de copieuses salades de chèvre ou de gésiers. Chacun a été satisfait. Les tarifs du menu sont de 21 euros pour entrée + plat, ou 24,50 pour entrée + plat + dessert.
La mère et les deux filles qui assurent le service, sont très souriantes.
Ce restaurant est situé au cœur d'un petit village du Gers. Nous avons pris le repas en terrasse, très agréable. Un bon espace sépare les tables, ce qui permet la discrétion.
La salle est décorée avec goût.
Nous avons un peu attendu mais ce n'était pas gênant, nous n'étions pas pressés.
