A pleasing blend of old and new

The Hotel a l’oriel offers a pleasing blend of old and new. The building dates from the mid-1550s and retains many period features, but it includes modern amenities such as a lift and bathrooms. The owners are hospitable and helpful and the breakfast is splendid and includes many Alsatian specialities. Riquewihr is a charming survival full of character.

Great amateurism: are there professionals in this hotel?

We stayed at this hotel for the Christmas market. We already knew him from coming here a few years ago and, despite the change of ownership, nothing was done to modernize the establishment. The hotel remained in its juices, with many unacceptable problems, starting with a serious lack of cleanliness. The attached photos speak for themselves.
The rooms were in poor condition: mattresses almost out of use, visible screws on the bed, skirting boards that peel off. The services are clearly not up to standard, even for a three-star hotel where cleanliness should be a minimum.
The towels were mismatched and the breakfast very disappointing, composed of industrial products while the city is full of excellent bakeries. Only one person in the room, obviously overwhelmed, served the coffee.
We will also quickly turn to the deplorable reception and filth of the bar located in the basements of the hotel: extremely unpleasant staff, dirty tablecloths, to the point that we did not want to consume there and preferred to go elsewhere.
There is a serious question about the professionalism of the new owners. Investments and a complete overhaul of services seem essential. One thing is certain: we will never go back.

An Alsatian stay at the top!

Two nights in this charming place! We loved this hotel for several reasons.
First of all, very well located, the room was clean and decorated Alsatian.
In addition, the breakfast formula is complete. The orange juice is fresh, the decoration of the restaurant room is typical.
Finally, the managers are adorable and caring. They give you advice and do everything to make your stay memorable. We will definitely return!

Beautiful weekend

Very characteristic hotel in one of the most beautiful villages in France and strategically located to visit the many villages in the area. Our room was on the top floor (sloping roof) very very nice. Classic breakfast well stocked. Possibility of parking by reservation (costs less than the municipal one).

A little disappointing.

I stayed at this hotel for the last three days and overall the place is really nice. It is very well located and easily accessible, which is a real plus. The setting is pleasant and the welcome is very warm!
On the other hand, several points need to be reviewed:
• The cleanliness of the room leaves much to be desired. Nothing catastrophic, but clearly something to improve quickly.
• Flushing poses a real problem: the flow is not powerful enough, which is quite embarrassing on a daily basis.
• Breakfast is good, but really not hearty enough, which is a bit disappointing.
• The soundproofing of the building is poor: you can easily hear what is happening in the other rooms, which can disturb the stay.
In short, the hotel has good potential and a very good geographical location, but several improvements are essential to make the experience truly enjoyable.
