When can I return?
This is a special hotel. Stunning chateau in beautiful surroundings. Attentive polite staff and delicious food. Beautiful views and perfect pool. Great atmosphere.

Disappointing
This was our fifth stay at Chateau Serjac but this year was very disappointing. The house we stayed in really needed a fresh coat of paint as skirting boards and doors were chipped and dirty. The sofa in the living room was covered in stains and tables were chipped. The kitchen had no baking trays for cooking with and a very small fridge with a tiny freezer which needed defrosting. The glass topped tables outside were filthy when we arrived. The large grass area around the pool looked attractive but unfortunately the irrigation system meant that the moisture attracted huge amounts of wasps as did the rotting grapes on the side of the house. Water pressure was hopeless and showers frequently stopped in the middle of use.
It feels like management have let things deteriorate which is a real shame as it used to be a great place to stay. Really not worth the money.

Thank you for taking the trouble to write. After so many visits to our estates, this is the first time we have heard that anything was wrong, and so we were particularly sorry to discover this year fell short of your expectations.
Some of what you describe was simply not up to our usual standards. The outdoor tables should have been clean on arrival, and this was a lapse on our part which we have addressed with the team. The marks on the living room sofa were fresh from the changeover immediately before your arrival. We treated them with professional equipment in the time between the previous departure and your arrival but could not get the upholstery back to pristine in the short time available. It has since been dealt with.
The other issues you noted could have been put right very quickly, had we been aware of them. Our kitchens are equipped to a standard that covers what almost everyone needs on holiday, with baking equipment the exception: few guests bake while they are with us. We do have some baking equipment which we hold centrally and bring over when it is occasionally requested. Freezers are delivered clean and defrosted, though in 40°C heat it takes only a few minutes of an open door to set one icing up. Wasps can descend very suddenly in extreme heat, seeking water they cannot find elsewhere, and when they do we know exactly what to do: the irrigation goes off straight away, the pool is treated, and we look for a nest and destroy it. Following your review we have cleared the bunch of grapes on the side of the house that had been missed at harvest.
On the water, we have tested the showers since, running all three at once, and found no drop in pressure and no interruption, nor have we had a report of this anywhere else on the estate. Our team are on the estate seven days a week from early morning until late in the evening, and had you made us aware of any of these issues we would of course have immediately addressed them. On the basis of your experience, I have taken a note to ensure we visit all guests we have not already seen at reception or in the restaurant, at their properties early in their stay, to check that everything is OK.
Where we would respectfully disagree is with the suggestion that the estate is being allowed to deteriorate. The joinery in the house is almost 150 years old, and the small chips in it are historical, set into layers of paint applied over many decades rather than bare wood. Every property is repainted, refreshed and deep cleaned at the end of each season, without exception, and this winter we also carried out a major furniture and linen replacement programme. Over the last two years all the communal areas have also been refurbished, and in the last twelve months we have added a padel court and a new playground. We invest continually to keep the estate in the condition it deserves, and that will not change.
You have been coming here for many years and we would be sorry to lose you. I left you a message after reading your review, and as I said in my message, I would welcome the opportunity to talk through your experience with you at your convenience.

Disappointing Spa Experience
We found the spa to be very poor value for money (40 Euros per person). There is only a very basic facility (a jacuzzi, indoor pool, steam room and sauna) but some of the equipment is not working fully. There were no additional towels provided, and no gowns made available, with limited choice of complementary drinks.

Idyllic stay
What more could you ask for? A perfect setting, impeccable service, the ideal place to enjoy a timeless bubble! This is the 2nd time I have booked and I will return as soon as possible.
