Worst experience
First of all, we were underpaid compared to the work that was expected of us. I know it was a volunteer position, but the managers, Laura and Cloe, still expected us to sometimes do the same work twice, just to be sure that we were working a full 3 to 4 hours, even when the tasks were already finished. For example, we were asked to clean the toilets twice in one hour even though they were already clean, simply to not leave us with any more free time.
Our volunteer tent contained only mattresses. There wasn’t even any light anymore. At the end of the two weeks of agreed volunteering, I asked if I could stay one extra night in the volunteer tent. The camp manager tried to find all sorts of excuses to refuse, even though it would not have required any extra effort from her.
Overall, the managers were simply ungrateful for our work and took out their frustration regarding the lack of staff on us. I absolutely do not recommend supporting this camp. An extremely disappointing experience. Despite the name surf camp, there is no possibility to rent a board on site or even a suitable beach.
