When we arrived at this hotel advised by friends, the surprise was great to be welcomed at the bar of the cafe "downstairs" as friendly as original.
We had a "suite", composed of 2 contiguous bedrooms with necessity to pass into the first to access the second but also pass into the second to access the bathroom, the latter as rustic as the walls to the upholstered fabric of the rooms.
No night watchman, you have to rely on other guests to be sure that the access remains closed. No breakfast either. But if you want to drink, the bar on the ground floor is welcoming and good-natured.
Everything stays clean, pleasant despite the cries of bar patrons who smoke their cigarettes on the sidewalk in the middle of the night, all under your windows.
The check out is very light: you leave the keys on the board and you slam the door behind you.
Still the hotel is well located, possibility of parking in the adjacent streets, the beach is a few hundred meters away.
In short, fun and nice little hotel for a night or two...but not for a long stay. Not suitable for children.

THE JOLLY ROGER, if you like something a little bit quirky and different

fantastic place, immaculately clean, comfy bed, great friendly staff and customers great selection of beers wines and spirits, goot food great gamesroom and music, good selection of bars and restarants nearby, as well as the beach, nearby there are various memorials to WW11 and a museum not to mention the trail by numbers offering information on historic events in the town of Dunkirk. cant wait to come again

Quirky Hotel

Spent a couple of nights here, comfortable & friendly small hotel, accommodation is above a Rock Bar so we didn't expect it to be quiet but once you leave the bar the rooms are very well insulated from the noise. Room was beautifully clean & well equipped.Great entertainment while we were there. Room only but a short walk to the seafront to find bars & restaurants for breakfast & meals. Parking is on the street which may prove difficult in high season.

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay, and excellent value too

Came to Dunkirk for a couple of days in early November, and decided to stay at the Jolly Roger, and we were very glad we did. There are only four rooms, but they were very clean. Breakfast isn’t available, probably because there are so many cafes nearby, and the seafront is only a short walk. This hotel would be especially appreciated by those who enjoy a pub with a rock theme.
Plenty of on road parking in November when we went, but obviously couldn’t comment on other times of the year.
Highly recommend the Jolly Roger, and at £30 pppn it’s an absolute steal!
