Excellent country retreat
A meticulously appointed property inside and out. The limited number of guests creates the feeling that you’re at your own country retreat. Philippe knows all of the beautiful places in the area, but you won’t want to leave the pool and gardens.

Loved it!
We stayed here for four nights in early April. We happened to be the only guests, though I'm sure the entire experience would have been as positive had others been staying. The property is an off the beaten track, lovely Provencal building though there's plenty to do within half an hour's drive plus the coast and the Verdon Gorge are easily accessible. A car is essential. Lovely rooms, tastefully decorated, and with period furniture and interesting art. Excellent modern bathrooms. Philippe and Beatrice make excellent hosts, advising on restaurants for dinner, places to visit in the area. Delicious breakfast provided by Philippe - mornings were chilly when we stayed so we ate mainly indoors, though once in the sunshine in the garden. There's a great looking pool but sadly too cold to consider when we visited. In terms of price, it's fairly top end to stay here, though we felt it was worth it. We'd like to return one day! Definitely recommended.

We rented a room sat-sun (with friends) so 2 rooms. We figured we’d sleep the night & enjoy Sunday by the pool. We thought wrong...but first let me start off by saying this place is truly gorgeous. It’s super cute & a provincial dream. The garden is well taken care of & the rooms clean & well renovated. The breakfast is delicious & mostly homemade & organic. The owner Philipe is very nice. The only issue we had was that we couldn’t stay Sunday to enjoy the pool. Check in was at 5pm Saturday & checkout 11 am. We had no issues vacating the rooms, but wanted to stay by the pool. In any other hotel/inn/maison d’hôtes they wouldn’t have any issues but his rules are as follows. So my review is not to bash the place. It is genuinely really nice but it’s more of a heads up to anyone thinking of doing the same. In my opinion 230€ for a room & no real access to the main reason people would come (the pool)is a bit extra. We were with our friends (another couple) so 460€ for less than 24 hours is a bit much imo. If you do happen to stay for more than 2 days of course you could enjoy the pool. Also there’s a note in the room that pool is open from 10am-5pm. So we were a bit disappointed but nonetheless had a good time. I hope this sheds some light to those who plan on visiting this place.

Provence at its best
Coming to La Bastide des Enquèses was like finding an oasis.
We immediately felt the calm and harmony in this beautiful place. The hosts Philippe and Beatrice could not be nicer, always meeting you with a warm smile, eager to help but never pushy, just doing what they can to give you the best stay ever.
The house is beautifully renovated and the garden is like a little piece of art.
The room was pretty, spacious and very clean. The beds are very comfortable and the linens feel luxurious.
We felt so at home here, and the only regret we have is that we couldn’t stay longer!
I highly recommend La Bastide des Enqueses!
I’ll definitely come back, hopefully sooner than later.

The perfect place to stay in Lorgues!
We have stayed in Lorgues many times and are so so happy to have found the Bastide des Enqueses. We were looking for a relaxing stay in a traditional Provencal house and the Bastide was perfect. Booking was very easy through the website and we secured the room, Ciste, which is the largest of the three available and is gorgeous. The hosts, Phillippe and Beatrice, are charming and so helpful (without being at all intrusive), and gave us a lovely welcome at all times.
The Bastide is about 4-5 km out of Lorgues, down a delightful little country lane (so you do need a car to visit). It has been totally renovated over the past 3 years with no expense spared and is the dream Provencal home with lovely views. The gardens are all being landscaped by Phillippe and Lucas and they are already gorgeous. You can wander in the beautiful gardens or relax by/in the stunning pool (note the pool shower which is a little stone waterfall). The photos don't actually do it justice. You wake up in the morning to just the sounds of the cicadas and the fountain in the courtyard..bliss!
The bed was comfortable, the embroidered linens all new and the towels were soft and fluffy. The bathroom was huge (with nice toiletries) and the shower was a handheld and rainforest ..lovely! Fully air conditioned. Note however that you do need to climb stairs to get to your room as there are no rooms on the ground floor.
The guests have their own entrance to the house so can easily come and go as they please. Breakfast is typically French, with beautiful bakery goods and organic fruit, home made preserves and honey. Phillippe will make you a beautiful fruit salad with home made yoghurt and a cooked egg if you wish too... All delicious. There is also a table d'hôte available (check the website) but we can't comment as we didn't stay for it, simply because we hadn't noticed it when we booked. The guests that did eat there seemed to enjoy it very much though.
Yes, it is a little more expensive than some of the other places in the area but in this instance you truly get everything you pay for and it is definitely worth it! We stayed four nights and we really didn't want to go...
