Chalet du Bel Event sits halfway between Dieppe and Fécamp, 4 km from Veules les Roses and only 2 km from beaches. All of the rooms at Chalet du Bel Event are located on the 1st or 2nd floor and accessible by stairs.

Old-fashioned charm of the belle époque
This magnificent house deserves a certain renovation (flaking paints and traces of mold in the iris room) and more regular heating.
The hosts are very iconoclastic and even confusing in their climate-sceptic and conspiratorial discourse. The welcome remains very cordial nonetheless.

Remore, but not far from Dieppe
The owner was very pleasant and accommodating.
Our room was on the top floor, requiring climbing stairs.
The breakfast table was nicely set, and there was a music room.

Exquisite
The imposing house in its own grounds has a wonderful history that you need to discover!
Our "party" of 10 occupied the house for one week July 21st - July 28th 2024.
The first items to catch my eye on entering this place- are the paintings which cover the walls!
The paintings all created by Christine Westhead (Bill & his brother Dan's mother).
Sadly, Christine passed away a few years ago but she lives on in this amazing house!
I was expecting her to walk in at any moment!
If you want a place to stay that offers quirky, unique, quiet, comfortable, a creative/ bohemian environment..... this is for you!
Sit outside and drink your wine, eat your meals.
Bill is on hand to give information & guidance for whatever you might need.
You don't really need to go anywhere, you can "just be" in this calming place!
There are mountains of books to read, paraphernalia a plenty to look upon, a piano if you can play, swings to relive a childhood!
The rooms are all clean and tidy with comfortable beds and en suite facilities.
Beware the twists & turns of the staircase if you're not great on your "pins"!!!!!
The nearest super markets are a 15/20 minute drive away.
We travelled in our cars to the Normandy beaches (around 2 hours away).
Fecamp (about an hours drive).
We took the train to Rouen (nearest station about 25 mins drive away). 40 minute train ride to this fabulous city.
There are plenty of little villages to explore with beautiful, rural countryside and coastal places of interest.
Don't go if you're wanting 5 star luxury!
If you want gray, beige & white, spas, swimming pools, monoculture and the like - this place is not for you!
Do go here if you want unusual, different & unique!
We would not hesitate to recommend this amazing place to anyone who wants something a little bit different!
We shall be going back to visit Bill and Chalet du Bel Event sometime in the future!
