Shabby but clean
Rooms a little dated and the smallest bed width wise I've ever slept in
Dinner was OK but even the dining room needed redecoration
All in all OK but needs some updating
Very quiet but the patron works hard at keeping it together

Ultimately 67 euros without breakfast, the service is starting to get expensive.

Awful, Dirty, Unfriendly. Very Old decor (not old as 'charming') old as in well out of date and zero mod cons!
No wifi. Shared toilets and showers only one per floor!
Only interested in us spending more money... staying longer & eating dinner & breakfast in his own restaurant. Stained Sheets & filthy dusty room.

Curiously attractive old inn
But actually, it's a great place, if you don't mind slightly old-fashioned rooms. There is a nice terrace at the front and side, with a large dining room and bar inside. Most of the rooms have washbasins and recently-installed showers, with shared toilets on the landings. I slept very well, because the road traffic is very light during the evening and night. Rooms at the rear would presumably be the quietest option.
Best of all was the food - a set menu of ham and melon, rôti de porc with dauphinoise potatoes, followed by a pear tart. All the dishes were absolutely delicious.
Breakfast was good too, and the ham baguette we were given as a packed lunch was superb.
The patron is a bit gruff at first, but remarkably friendly once you chat to him a bit. Wifi had a very strong signal. Free parking at the side of the hotel.
If you are passing through this part of the Mercantour National Park, you'll probably be thinking of staying in Saorge, which is, no question, more beautiful and impressive than Fontan. But don't discount the Hotel Terminus - it's a great place, despite its unimpressive exterior.
