More like a 2 star…beware!

Very disappointed! This is NOT a 4 star hotel It has shabby grounds and dusty old furniture in the rooms and common space. The rooms in the main house are larger than the out building but still in desperate need of update for a 4 star for sure. The pool was delightfully cool but the lounges were old and shabby too. The room in the outbuilding was like an attic room at my grandmothers house. Wow! 2 star at best.

The challenge of the heat

Everything about this place is great. Staff, rooms, pool, breakfast, location and on-site parking. Unfortunately for all hotels, Europe's heat waves keep getting worse every summer and while this place has air conditioning and it actually works, it was unable to keep pace with the heat. My room was cooler than the outside and it was cool enough to sleep comfortably, but the room temperature never reached the degree setting on the thermostat which was the one mark against staying here again - at least if there is a heat wave on. If not, then I can recommend without reservation!

Clos d'Amboise - Relaxation and Charm in Amboise

The hotel has many charming touches throughout, plus a lovely garden where breakfast is served and a pool. It’s located in the center of town so it’s an easy walk to shops and restaurants as well as the two main tourist attractions, the Chateau d’Amboise and the Clos du Luce. It also has a well-respected restaurant where we had one of the best meals of our trip. I upgraded and our room was lovely – large with a bathtub and a shower – and overlooked the peaceful gardens.

Beautiful Hotel

What a magical place to stay, I can't say much other than everything was wonderful. Such friendly and helpful people/staff. Will definitely return.
