Nostalgia and welcoming

Very friendly staff in this charming old style Spanish building. Plenty of bathrooms all with showers for everyone to use without waiting. Nice living room and other spaces outside private room. The room itself is clean, beds are solid and plenty of blankets.
One area for improvement is the availability of staff at the reception. Sometimes there is only one member who also makes breakfast at the other end of the building. This can lead to queues at the entrance as the gate is locked for safety. Add a reception bell!!

warning: Unethical Retroactive Charges & Misleading Services

Highly unprofessional and dishonest business conduct. My stay (around Sept 26-30, 2025) concluded with an unacceptable dispute over luggage storage fees during a personal emergency.
1. False Advertising & Undisclosed Service: The hostel explicitly lists "Baggage storage" on its Booking.com profile. Yet, the owner, Paola, later confirmed this service is not offered for long-term stays (Quote: "We don't give this service" - 10:44:41).
2. Unilateral and Retroactive Fees: Staff approved leaving my bags. The owner later tried to shift the blame to me for not specifying the duration, arguing the service is only for a few hours. However, they failed to notify me of the time limit OR the $6 USD fee until three days later (on 2/10/25). If the service is time-limited and costly, it is the property's duty to state it upfront.
3. Holding Property Until Payment (Proof Attached): I was dealing with an urgent passport emergency. When notified of the fee, I immediately sent a friend to pick up the luggage that same day. The owner explicitly stated that the belongings would not be released until the retroactive fee was paid: "Your friend has to pay 6 USD and carry your luggage." (Quote: 17:20).
This behavior—imposing a hidden charge, blaming the customer for their own lack of transparency, and then holding a guest's property until payment is made—is unethical and an abuse of power. Travelers should be extremely cautious.

Staff ruins the place and run down

Very rude staff, you are treated like an unwanted guest in their house and ordered around. Staff are shouting all morning, impossible to relax.
They lock the door at random times and no bell so you just have to wait and they act like they are doing you a favour.

Sh!thole - it’s like the Coronavirus of Hostels

This place was disgusting! Filthy, unsanitary, may cause need for additional vaccinations. This hostel needs to be quarantined! Ick!
The walls were paper thin, allowing you to hear EVERYTHING from adjoining rooms and bathroom. Wifi was crap. Pillows were basically smelly pancakes that hasn’t been washed in a long time. They lock you in, and we had to yell and search for someone to unlock the door to let us out. Friend injured hand on exterior gates, which were disgusting.
They wouldn’t refund the money we paid for unused nights, but that was a small price to pay to escape that hell hole.

Vomitous Stench and caked on dirt.

If you’re into sleazy filth and bacterial infections or worse I recommend this hostage hostal to you. I’m gagging as I write this. The stink pierces your nose and causes dizziness. Paper thin walls that allow you to hear every sound in the bathroom next door. Each plop, grunt and flush makes for an interesting biological symphony throughout the night. Got locked in with no employee in sight. We fled this hostal in search of a safe and clean haven. Doused myself in rubbing alcohol and wire brush scrub after leaving. An injury occurred on the nasty gates on the way out. I was afraid my hand may need to be amputated due to bacterial infection afterwards. Run!
