Gratitude

Big house, full of musicians travelers, and the owners are the best! They keep their very honest prices low all year round regardless public holidays, and they saved me by giving a place to sleep when all hostels in cuenca were fully booked...

Value for Money, But Don't Expect Too Much

The Hostal Pachamama was a good value for the price. The hostel is family owned, and offers multiple rooms. I stayed in a private room, which had a large bed, but the room felt damp the whole time, with an odor of cheap cleaner. The blankets and carpeting also felt kind of damp. The hostel was full of partying Argentines and musician backpacker types, so be prepared to be woken at 4 AM when they came back from the bars! The best thing about Pachamama Lodge was the price. You cannot beat it. Also, everything in Cuenca is walkable from the hotel. I even walked to/from the airport!

Adequate

The sound of the street was abit much but otherwise it was an adequate place to spend a night or two near the historical center of cuenca.
I would have liked an included breakfast but you can't have everything.

good value for your money

It is a good option for backpackers - free wifi, Nice and welcoming staff, nice rooms. It is cheap and clean. There are equipped kitchen and small garden, many things are nearby (few museums, clubs, parks, the bus station). I recommend 

Don't go!!!!

Where to begin? The toilet didn't work, the wifi was basically non-existent, there was almost no hot water for the showers, bad service at the front desk and loud music late in the evening so it was impossible to sleep. Overall bad experience! Do yourselves that favor and stay somewhere else to enjoy Cuenca (which is an awesome city)
