One night stay

Had booked a small appartment for 3, but on the day my wife and kid where ill. We where going to a friends 50th birthday, so I went alone. The first thing that happend was that they offered me a smaller room, for a cheaper price. Which for me is just excellent service.
The breakfast was reasonable.
The room itself was somewhat worn, and relatively small. 4 stars due to the room being worn. Everything else was ok, and I would stay here again.

A most enjoyable lunch

Far away from summer, but Rømø (Roemoe) is still a wonderful place to visit for walks, riding, picking oysters, etc. Not that many places open in November, but Havneby Kro was and we went in to get some lunch. The menu was sort of limited and we couldn't quite make up our minds so the waitress offered to give us something that wasn't on the menu, and we accepted. Butterfried filet of plaice with prawns and salmon caviar on rye bread. It was delicious. The waitress was very friendly in every way and we will not hesitate to go back to Havneby Kro again. Nothing fancy, but really nice.

Are you feeling lucky.

Grubby rooms and corridors. Rude waitresses. Deep fried everything on the menu. I was over charged and the price of everything was expensive. Grumpy staff. It lacks any kind of Scandinavian aesthetic .
Three weeks later my company booked me back in. Charming staff, and it was a Saturday so the buffet was on - relatively good value for money given the extensive selection. The sheets were clean and the shower worked but the public spaces still felt grubby. So inconsistent . Before you book in ask yourself are you feeling lucky.

Something to Kro about

I first came across the Havneby Kro when I had completed my days work, it was recommended by a work colleague, who told me about the excellent all you can eat buffet. After a few minutes in the bar I was introduced to the friendly multilingual staff and went in to eat, the selection was out of this world, fresh fish, prawns, crayfish, with all sorts of complimenting sauces, roasted joints of beef, pork, and venison,and as many vegetables as you could shake a stick at. The selection of deserts was extensive, with a freezer cabinet of different flavoured ice creams. I had to limit myself to this once a week, and that took some will power. Everyone was there from infants to the elderly but it never seemed to be crowded, and definitely the most popular eating venue on Romo. I was booked into the hotel later on in the month and was extremely comfortable in the spacious, on suit rooms, kept to a very high standard of cleanliness. The Havneby Kro is accessible both from sea and road, tucked in, on the beautiful island of Romo . What more can I say, try it if you can, I don't think you'll be disappointed.

good and bad

as to my many trips to this area, i cannot recommend this hotel. i did not feel wecome at all and the prices for food and drink where out of this world. for one bottle of plein soda 6 euros....
the rooms where too small and i could not load my cell at all due to the fluctations in power.
i am very sad , we spent all that money, which was too much, for this guesthouse.
we where glad when we laft, and we only styed as long as we did becase we payed in advance.
sorry but a flop
