Location You can take a walk and explore the neighbourhood area of the resort — The Western Han Museum of the Nanyue King Mausoleum, Nanyue Kingdom Palace Museum and Shangxiajiu Pedestrian Street.At the resort Spend an evening in a nice atmosphere of the bar. Wi-Fi on the territory will help you stay on-line. If you travel by car, there’s a parking zone. The following services are also available for the guests: a sauna. Here, you can treat yourself with water procedures as there will be an aquapark. At the guests’ disposal, there’s also a laundry and private check-in and check-out.

Brilliant for Children and even Adults
Note: Going on your own, the room itself would be 1300 Yuan, meals are 150 Yuan a head, and entrance to Water World another 150 Yuan each.
The coach stopped for a nice lunch at a restaurant next to the Ferris Wheel which is also part of the resort. Then it was just a few minutes’ drive to the hotel, where we had to wait for an hour until our room was ready, no problem as there was plenty of comfortable seating in the hotel lobby.
Note: Hotel check out is midday, and rooms available after 2 o’clock. Be aware the lobby is on the sixth floor which is the ground floor at the entrance, there’s an outdoor swimming pool on the fifth, along with the spa etc. Guest rooms are mainly ‘down’ in the lifts.
Our twin room 2112 was big and cool, with a balcony with a couple of chairs and a small table overlooking the lake. The bathroom was enormous with both a bath and a shower unit, everything was as expected. A quarry tile floor throughout, and everything was spotless.
After settling in, my wife prised me out of a balcony chair and took me walking to explore the hotel and its surroundings. She particularly wanted to see Water Word as friends with children asked about it. Yep, just the place for kids! There were hundreds of them splashing around in the wave pool and on various slides. No wonder the hotel was packed with children as it’s included in the hotel fee.
After the walk, it was dinner time (served 5 to 8). The dining rooms were heaving, but we got a table. Being British, I first sniffed out a couple of cups of cold lager, then a bowl of soup, a few slices of pizza, and potato salad. My wife insisted I also eat a few prawns and duly obliged but also downed another cup of lager. She, as usual tucked into a bowl of noodles with all the trimmings. There was everything to satisfy the palate, including sushi, fish, meat, dumplings, rice, noodles, cakes, ice cream etc. My wife gathered, that the dinner was the highlight for many people.
We slept well in the air-conditioned room!
At breakfast (served 7 to 10), the next morning, there was a similar huge choice. Of course, noodles with green vegetables were the most popular, but there was everything you could imagine. There was even a queue for the coffee machine; when I first came to China coffee, if available, was a strange drink only for the foreigners. I reckon, the Full English, pales into insignificance compared with the Full Chinese.
The weather was too hot to walk far, so we mainly enjoyed the room until midday. We then had to wait an hour for the coach to leave at 1 o’clock but plenty of comfy chairs and sofas in the lobby. The coach we gathered runs a shuttle service from Guangzhou to the hotel. One lot in, another lot out with their off-spring moaning about leaving and wanting to stay another day or two. Surely a good sign of a successful resort.
In less than two hours we were in our bothy in the city and back to reality with cat and a fish to feed.
I think we’ll be going the Mayland Resort Hotel again!

The whole experience was fantastic.
Our good impression started with the very helpful rebooting phone enquiries to check about swimming for the children. The reception team were very helpful and polite.
The setting and landscape was beautifully peaceful.
The spa pools were fantastically clean and provided free water, tea and towels throughout.
All staff were very friendly and attentive to our needs. Some spoke English, but all were happy to converse through the use of translation apps.
