Wonderful staff and Fabulous views

The view of from the hotel room can't be beat as it is part of the tallest building in the Province of Jiangsu (紫峰大厦). The room is actually quite old with some defects in some areas (curtain had a minor defect but was fixed within 15 minutes - they had a maintenance worker come up within 15 minutes). The TV is also too small. However, what makes it 5 Stars is the service. Every single worker will go out of their way to make your stay fabulous. They will do whatever it takes (from giving out power adaptors and lending out MacBooks) to make your stay comfortable. In addition, the breakfast had over 100 items to choose from. I ate it at 10AM everyday and it became a brunch and more. Fabulous stay overall.

Terrible experience right from the start

Less than one week prior to our stay the hotel said they charged us the wrong price and wanted to charge us about $80 more. We panicked and booked another hotel, before they agreed it was their fault and agreed not to charge is the extra. It was such a hassle and nuisance considering we were already in China and having to suddenly deal with this issue last minute.
Old and worn down hotel. The ceiling was flaking / peeling off, there was scotch tape, writings and scratch marks on the window panels. When you enter the lounge the staff doesn't bother asking you whether you would like a drink. The bathroom was dark. The lounge hours are relatively short. Staff was cold and lacked warmth. During evening cocktails food took ages to be topped up, desserts not topped up at all. The food tasted bad overall as well. Even the lifts felt old and cranky and powerpoints not working. Overall very poorly maintained and hotel seems to be trying to cut cost everywhere affecting service and room quality. I'll let the pictures speak for themselves.
Certainly the worst intercontinental brand I have been to so far.
Definitely highly recommend the Shangrila Nanjing or the westin nanjing, both of which are nearby instead, where the service is warm and friendly.

Tall but dated

Looks good in pictures, super tall building and all that. But it’s pretty dated and worn when you’re here in person. Lobby is old fashioned and check in lacked human touch. Didn’t get upgrade despite my ambassador status either
Room at lowish 57F and dated. Good Byredo toiletries like all Intercontinentals
Breakfast typical 4 star though service was decent
Gym medium size with nice view

Gym has a few threadmills, stairmasters, weights and there is a shopping mall accessible from the hotel lobby.
Rooms kept clean especially frombthe cleaning crew of floor 61!🙂

Great location and breakfast. Amazing view from the sky terrace. Nice and helpful in the reception.
