Although Dali is most famous for Cangshan Mountain and Erhai Lake, I prefer the characteristic architecture of the Bai nationality, so I chose Xizhou. Sure enough, this inn did not disappoint. It is full of exquisite Bai ethnic style, and there are small tea tables in the aisle. Friends drink tea and chat a little, so comfortable.

The hotel owner was very friendly and helped us carry our luggage up one flight of stairs (there was no lift). The house and courtyard are gorgeous and peaceful. The room could have been cleaner, especially the bathroom (there were two toilet brushes just lying on the floor next to the toilet, without a holder or a bucket or anything). The wet room type shower room was a bit awkward to use because there was no shower curtain so everything was wet after taking a shower. There were no toiletries provided so we had to buy shampoo, conditioner and shower gel. There is no air con or heating, just a heating blanket. Overall though I really enjoyed our stay there and would probably stay there again as the building is so nice and the location is very convenient, central yet very quiet.
