Security and tranquility.

Excellent experience of stay,,Security inside the accommodation 100%;very good external security.. Very good cleanliness..,A very quiet neighborhood to stay,and those looking to escape from a very bustling city,, Very good breakfast,, very good staff attention...Recommended in its entirety.

you get what you pay for...

If you are looking to save on accommodation, this is a great hostal. Emmanuel is a nice guy, he tries to help and the hostal is in a great location, close to the metro and on a quiet street. When I went, everything was working, I stayed for a total of 7 nights over 20 days. Breakfast a bit mixed by Brazilian standards, but reasonable. Pros: silence, informality, Cons: air conditioning is turned off in the middle of the night (economy?), a lot of dust, half-assed coffee.

Filthy, run down, ramshackle hostel. Avoid it all costs.

Filthy hostel. Kitchen sink covered with plastic, no running water, oily silverware, no cooking pots, dirty cups. Kitchen door couldn’t be opened more than 1 foot to get in and out. Employees always absent. Gate’s key useless. We rung the bell for no one to come out. Toilets clogged, cold water in the girls’ bathroom. Cleaning crew stole $1,500 dollars from us. When I asked whether our valuables were secure the answers was “yes.” We left for the whole day to visit Santiago, upon returning we discovered the money pouch was misplaced and $1,500 missing. When trying to find someone to talk to, no one was around. A rather humiliating experience. When I reached the manager over the phone, he was unapologetic, defensive, and ineffectual, promising to study the video camera and reach back to me. Nothing, only silence. Their website is downright deceiving! Avoid this hostel as the plague. I traveled with seven students and we stayed there for 3 days and 2 nights. We couldn’t wait to leave.

Great Hostel, does better than most hotels!!

Customer service is something you cant guarantee, even if you’re paying for big brand chain hotels.
For what you pay, the private room is massive, breakfast is sufficient and the hotstal is super clean throughout. The reception staff don’t all speak English, but do their best to be helpful - Christian and Michelle were amazing!!
Casa Aborigen is a few minutes from Barrio Italia - a great neighbourhood for winding down to brunch or chilling out after a long day. It’s close to the park, metro area and walking distance of San Cristóbal outlook if you’re strolling through the barrios. They also arrange tours and most companies will pick up from this location.
The demonstrations didn’t affect my stay, but the hostel is pretty close the the activity so if you’re on foot - you may need to plan a few detours.
There is certainly high security at the hostel - it is fenced, meaning you are buzzed in and out. Unfortunately, there were times of having to wait 5 or so minutes, which was frustrating, but not deal breaking.

Clean hostel with very nice staff

I stayed two times at the hostel and once for over a week. The hostel is always clean and the staff is very helpful and nice. Especially Franco and Christian!
I can recommend that place and would stay there again.
