Good value for money
We stayed for one night on our way north to Arica. It took a little finding and our booking seemed elusive. Nevertheless the staff were friendly and helpful. The two rooms were fine without any of the ants mentioned elsewhere. We slept well. The wifi was fine. Beakfast was an extra change but not expensive and worth the 1800 pesos.

Owner is unprofessional and dishonest
Our otherwise satisfying stay was overshadowed by a bad experience with the owner and the staff regarding the cost of this booking. BE ADVISED the benefit to foreigners of not paying the tax will NOT apply here if you do no pay in cash. The owner doesn't make this clear until hours after you check in and it is too late to take other measures. We ended up having to argue with her over the phone and she very stubbornly refused to offer any recourse. The front desk girl was all the while playing games on the front desk computer and hardly looked up to make eye contact while she was checking us in, answering questions or otherwise not doing her job. For the price you pay to stay here it is NOT worth it. The advertised price was commensurate. Had we known the true cost we would have stayed elsewhere. Wifi was spotty. You can pay for a breakfast of eggs and bread which is a fair price. Shared bathroom was clean but the hotel was also empty except for us the night we stayed.

Clean rooms with fast Wifi!
The hotel looks like a hostel, actually it is a remodeled house so expect small rooms but very clean! Wifi is really fast and personnel is really helpful and friendly. 2 min walk from the main road to take a taxi, 5 min walk from the beach and 10-15min walk from Las Americas mall. Too bad it does not include breakfast, it is charged separately. Highly recommended for short trips.

Comfortable Hotel in Iquique
This small hotel is a little distance from the historical center (they claim only 2km but it seemed longer when walking to it in the hot sun). The rooms were brightly decorated and clean. The staff have no English but were helpful. It is very near the beach called Playa Brava but there are a lot of down-and-outs there; we preferred the beach called Playa Cavancha which is closer to the historical center and had sun umbrellas and lounge chairs to rent. The staff allowed us to put some things in their fridge to keep cold. It is a compact hotel; the stairway to the second floor is very narrow. We always had hot water but it was a challenge to regulate the shower - it was either scalding or too cold. Recommended.

Pretty Poor!
We stayed at the hotel on two occasions, the first for 4 nights and the second for 1 night as we were touring the north of Chile.
The first stay:
Good-comfy beds, good wifi, nice sitting area outside & breakfast. Location near Playa Brava beach, shops & some restaurants.
Bad-no hot water for the 4 nights so had to use shared bathroom downstairs and when I complained they kept saying mañana & didn't seem bothered about doing anything to fix the problem. The room next to us also didn't have hot water so a problem with the heating and not our shower. We asked for a discount which they did give us in the end. Ants crawling in the bathroom & occasional dead ants in the bed, when we went to check out no-one was there so the cleaner had to call someone to come so we had to wait 10-15 mins. Not good customer service.
The second stay:
Good-same as before & shared bathroom was ok.
Bad-on arrival no-one to greet us except the cleaner, eventually someone came and said they didnt have a record of our booking- showed her our despegar confirmation and she grumpily gave us a room downstairs next to the shared bathroom. Some sort of drilling noise kept us awake until 1am with no apology about the disturbance (turns out someone was making smoothies in the kitchen!) breakfast is also a noisy affair and it felt like a crèche with young children bouncing balls in the dining area which appeared to be the norm. There was no customer service at check-out either!
A mirror in the bedrooms that use a shared bathroom wouldn't go amiss as it saves people hogging the bathroom where there is a mirror to get ready.
Overall did not feel welcome and more like you were invading someones home!
Other reviews rate this hotel quite highly and maybe our experience is a one-off but I wouldn't come back or recommend- I have stayed in hostels that are much better and more friendly!
