Located 400 metres from El Morro, Hotel Las Palmas offers accommodations with free WiFi access in Arica. Each room here has a private bathroom with free toiletries and cable TV. The Hotel is located 300 metres from the coast and one block from Mercado Central. LOCAL TAX LAW Based on local tax laws, all Chilean citizens and resident foreigners must pay an additional fee (IVA) of 19%. To be exempt from this 19% additional fee (IVA) the payment must be made in US dollars and a copy of the immigration card and passport must be presented. The passenger won’t be exempt from this fee when paying in local currency. In case of no show the invoice will be billed in local currency, including this additional fee (IVA). This additional fee (IVA) is not included in the hotel rates and must be paid separately. Cheap, clean, nice location...it's all you need.

We stayed two nights in the high season for Arica. The hotel is very cheap compared to everything else we could find and also to all the other places we stayed in Chile.
We had a family room with a large double bed and a single bed. The room and bathroom was very nice, clean and had wifi.
Breakfast was included. It included bread, juice, yoghurt, serial, cheese, ham, butter, jam, coffee and tea - everything you need.
The hotel is located centrally with lots of restaurants (both real reataurants and McDonalds), shops, cafes etc.
The mainsquare is 3 minutes walk away.
If going to Arica, this is worth to check out.
Oh, and did I mention it is cheap?

Close to main drag, generous breakfast.

We previously had stayed in Hotel Sotomayor at Arica where we had a wonderful veranda. At Las Palmas there is no view of the mountain or ocean but the decore is more modern, the beds more comfortable and the breakfast complete and more generous than we found elsewhere. Once again very nice people run the digs and they made a special effort to accommodate our last minute hotel change. I especially liked the fact that our room included a walkin closet. Best of all, the price was less than we had encountered elsewhere. The only downside beyond the lack of a view is that the immediate neighborhood is a bit rundown in appearance.

Wonderful Staff

We just finished traveling via motorcycle from Bogota to Patagonia and for us, Arica was our favorite community. The staff at the hotel was amazing. The gentleman at the desk could not possibly have been more pleasant or helpful. This hotel is bright, clean and very comfortable. Taxis were bountiful but we were able to walk everywhere we wanted to go to. There are wonderful walking areas full of outdoor restaurants and shops by. The people of Arica are among the friendliest we found on our journey. We were very sad to hear about the earthquake that hit this area a few weeks after we left it. We definitely want to return to this community. If you have not been there yet, go! and stay at the Hotel Las Palmas!

Solo alcanza para Hostal

Bueno aunque el titulo dice "hotel" basicamente no lo es, edificio a medio construir, personal displicente (sobretodo el de turno noche), desayuno básico, sin alternativas para personas con alguna intolerancia, y aseo a la habitación regular, hubo dias en que estaba impecable, y otros días que pareció no limpiaron (mesa de noche), presión de agua normal, pero con dificultades para descubrir cuál era el agua caliente, y OJO, piden en pago en cuanto te registras, algo que no me habia pasado en otro "Hotel", es barato, lo entiendo, pero es solo Arica, no Pucón ni viña de Mar, lo mejor es que está cerca del centro.
Ruido en las noches, si la habitación da a la calle, y muebles y puertas con desperfectos notorios.
No hay aire acondicionado y la televisión por cable con poca variedad. Ahora si quieres solo una ducha y dormir, sirve.

PESIMO HOTEL Y SERVICIO

PÉSIMO SERVICIO de principio a fin!
NO lo recomiendo para NADA.
1. Habitaciones en pésimo estado ( para ser hotel)
2. Baño pequeño, en mal estado
3. SIN VENTILACIÓN
4. Habitación calurosa y sofocante
5. Personal poco cordial, no entrega instrucciones claras para estadía y desayuno
6. Desayuno se cuenta por PERSONA, SI VA EN FAMILIA SOLO SERAN CONTADOS POR CAMA!
7. Recepcionista Poco cordial
8. INFORMACIÓN EN BOOKING EQUIVOCADA A LA REALIDAD
9. Desayuno básico
10. La señal de cable de la tv poco clara
11. Mucho ruido desde las 6:30 AM personal hablando muy fuerte y ruidos molestos, sobre todo para quienes vamos con bebé
12. Sin control sanitario a entrada y salida
Lo bueno de todo es que tiene estacionamiento para quiénes van en vehículo, todo lo demás mal.
