Visit '2016

My second visit to this Spa was as good as the first one. Quite private area, excellent service, with a well maintained heated pool and message service. Courteous and helpful staff.
The apartment was spacious and well lighted with central heating and fully equipped kitchen. Next to the well known Poets Shore.
I had very nice vacation and enjoyable time with the family.

Very bad service

This is my first time here and:
- The pool smells like pure bleach
- the internet did not work; I could not connect none of my devices to the internet.
- the rooms had very poor lighting at night
- The room lacked most of the kitchen aids needed for cooking etc.
I apologize for being so negative, but if you di not provide a service that impresses at first sight, you just don’t make it. Well, this place just did not make it for my stand point of view

Vacation

Excellent. Best place to rest. Wonderful swimming pool. Comfortable rooms. Water therapy and hot stones massage available. Nice staff and beautiful hostess. Near the sea shore with gourmet restaurants around.
100% recommended.

Nice heated swimming pool & jacuzzi

Google maps is the best thing in the entire Universe when you're trying to find a hotel! This one, for example, is located inside a community of small beach houses that includes a doorkeeper at the main entrance, which is a very good for security reasons. The building is painted light blue, and white. Upon arrival you will notice Algarrobo Spa looks very simple and unpretentious, for example they used recycled wood to build the parking. Our flat was ok for a family of three, main bedroom with huge king size bed, nightstands, closet and drawer. Modern flat screen television, with satellite TV, a decent variety of channels to watch, and free wifi (signal was poor). Bathroom was clean, and living room included an extra bed, very simple dining table, four wooden chairs, and small kitchenette with microwave, electric kettle, and a very good fridge to keep your own food. We found enough dishware, but just one pan and one pot with one wooden spoon, and fork that looked a bit too used. Freestanding cooker looked like a century old, I have to say. This cooker made me nervous all the time, as I was having nightmares about a hardly noticeable leak, mainly because my son was sleeping in the living room. I always needed to remember to close the gas pipe before going to bed, otherwise we were obliged to leave the sliding glass door next to him all night open, and we were staying on the first floor. Another thing is that it is not possible to open the windows in the main bedroom, just the bathroom has a small window you can open to get a bit of fresh air. Upon arrival they provide us with swimming caps, since it is mandatory to use them, and one bathroom towel for each. They do not provide cleaning or laundry service, so if you need a maid you have to pay extra (about USD15), which I needed to do since we stayed there for several days. The nice Colombian lady came twice, and she was kind enough to give us clean blankets, and towels every time (which I'm not sure they do if you don't hire this service). The garden looked a bit in need of love, specially the grass, but with the proper care I think this could be their main attraction, since they have lots of plants and flowers. You can find 2 chaise longue for sunbathing, and of course the best part of Algarrobo Spa is the nice heated swimming pool, and a jacuzzi (you can use jacuzzi) for half an hour each time). The swimming pool needs urgently some updating, specially that démodé wall art. I will suggest a new paving around it, to make it cleaner; it certainly looked a bit worn out, even with green algae at one corner of the border. Swimming pool water felt extremely chlorinated, it made my skin itchy and my hair (with highlights) got oxidized (it literally turned green at the ends), so it is very important to shower immediately after with a natural soap, wash your hair properly, and drink plenty of water beforehand, so that you are well hydrated. Snorkel to shield eyes is a good idea too. Since it is an indoor pool, they keep a window open because fresh air is too important in this type of pools, with such an amount of chlorine. They have a shower unit, WC and hair dryer right next to the jacuzzi, but shower plastic curtain was broken as well as the accordion door in front of the toilet. They offer some sort of aqua aerobic class 2 or 3 times a week, but you need to pay extra (about USD10 per class). I booked a relaxation massage, which was ok, for about 60 minutes with music and aromatherapy (USD50). On top of the massage cabin, we found a nice terrace where you can enjoy the view and even get a tan. Algarrobo's main street is about 20 minutes away if you walk, and once you get there, you will find the beach, very nice eating place at the Yacht Club, several local stores with everything you can imagine, and three banks with ATM service. Near San Alfonso del Mar, I will totally recommend "Il Toscano", a very good Italian restaurant, and delicious panna cotta with wild berries sauce, a total surprise for us (USD75 dinner for three). Total price per day at Algarrobo Spa USD110 (the flat).

A nice visit

Our room was clean and spacious, though the shower was not easy to use (small and would not drain). We had plenty of space to hang up wet suits and swimsuits outside to dry. We enjoyed the indoor pool and hot tub, though the pool was inexplicably closed one day. The included breakfast was good. It is away from the coast, but a good option if the view doesn't matter
