Welcoming hostel

The best stocked hostel kitchen I've ever stayed in! It's nice to have all the pots and utensils necessary! The small hostel creates a very communal atmosphere. Tons of seating in common areas as well. Thanks so much!

Group of 6 was welcomed

I am traveling in a group of 6 and this hostel was amazing for our group of young adults. Simple and easy to find. Host helped us get connected to a good tour company and kitchen was open for use. Hostel is a 2 minute walk from a market and bakery.

Screwed up my plan completely

I stayed in the hostel in the high season of Lençois Maranhenses.
I was very looking forward to scenic flight and could reserve the tour the day before.
However, one of their staff let the taxi driver, who came to the hostel to pick me up go back.
It was the final day for me in Barreirinhas and finally could not join the tour.
I am Japanese and it takes about 2 days only to go there from Japan.
I think that it will be difficult for me to visit there again.
The staff screwed up my plan and never apologized for his mistake.
I think that this problem occurred partly because I could not speak Portuguese and the staff could not understand English well.
However, I thought what made the hostel different was that the owner was English teacher.
In other words, I reserved the hostel to avoid such troubles.
I really would like other people from outside of Brazil not to have the same experience as I had.

Oh! Sorry my dear, but YOU decided to change your plans about the flight tour. The agency, who can speak English and who YOU hired - not me - called me the day after saying that you cancelled and rescheduled the tour TWICE. Then, at the second time YOU and your friend decided not to go, therefore their third client was really upset with YOU. The misunderstanding was between YOU and the flight tour agency. You never told me about your plans. I was here when you arrived, and slept out for one night - after six months without a single day off - and you decide to tell me about your plans now, at a TripAdvisor review? Very wise!!! This is really going to help!!! I personally hope people who believe your story, people like you, don't come to my hostel. I am Brazilian and I work a lot to host nice people who communicate with us, not technology addicted people who stay on their cellphones all day as if they were alone in the house. You "screwed up" your plans! Don't put this on me!!! Have a nice two-day trip back to your place!

small hostel with amazing atmosphere

This is one of those rare places that you are hoping to find on your backpacking trips. One of those places where the atmosphere is great, where all the guests feel at home and where everyone socialises. AND where the owner plays guitar and sings at night. I loved my stay here!

The professor is the best

The professor is the best. I honestly can say that leaving was a very somber moment because I was having such a wonderful time at the hostel with him and the other guests. Really...he makes the hostel so great. Breakfast is good too and a nice time to chat with other guests. Everything is clean and comfortable so no need to worry. He'll make sure to assist you in whatever way possible. I just left and I miss him already. THANK YOU SO MUCH!
