The hostel is very centrally located, within walking distance of the city center. The staff were very helpful and friendly. I can recommend it with a clear conscience.

Simple clean hostel which I can't recommend
This is small simple hostel. The location is good, walking distance to the old town and bridge but also very close to the buss and railway station. Staff was friendly. AC worked well.
I had two different experiences: one really quiet night and another very loud. This naturally depends of people who stay there same time. The terrace is just outside of the bigger dorm so you will hear people there indoors too.
There is just one bathroom for all the guests. So this might cause problems if everyone is getting out about same time.
EDIT: Unfortunately I can not anymore recommend Hostel David to anyone.
I got a reply from the hostel to my review. The hostel owner calls me as a liar because of my review. I still think my review (above) was very fair and I even told more plusses than minuses. I did not even blame them about the noise but mentioned that noise level depends of other travellers and it was because the big dorm is next to the terrace. I saw same reaction (accusing a customer about wrong information) in other review (booking.com) where other traveller also mentioned only one toilet. So instead improving the business (e.g. showing the other bathrooms when customers do check-in, make signs or just wrote a note "There are more toilets at xxx" to the door of the bathroom which is easy to find) the owner keeps calling customers liars and one person who had mentioned there are no lockers, the owner commented as a silly man (and there indeed are no proper lockers, I forgot to mention that on my own review, the available lockers next to the dorms are very small, you can fit maybe your purse there, but lockers did not look very safe. Nobody used them while I was there.)
This is not the way any business should be run. Hostel naturally can disagree with the review but it can be done in a polite way. I expect manners from adults and in any business.
You can find plenty other options to stay at Mostar, go and enjoy those.
My original scoring for this place was 3 stars. Now it is anymore worth of one star, even less. Attitude matters alot.

Very nice stay
The hostel is very centrally located, within walking distance of the city center. The staff were very helpful and friendly. The room was acceptable for the price. I can recommend it with a clear conscience.

Good hostel
The hostel is super close to the bus station, but a little further away (about 15 minutes walk) from the stone bridge. The room is very spacious, the bed is good, with light and individual socket. There is no closet to put your backpack. They provide towels. There is a shared kitchen. There is only one bathroom for all guests, it is insufficient. There is a very nice common area with tables in the garden. The person in charge only showed up when the hostel was full, it was difficult to find him for the first two days. You can leave your backpack stored until your travel time. When there are many guests at the hostel, there is beer for sale.

Great Room, Awesome Owners
Stayed here for 2 nights in a 4 bed dorm with an ensuite.
Parts of Mostar can be a Warren of streets, but the hostel has the presence to put up easily visible signs on streets to indicate the direction and entrance.
The dorm had two bunk beds placed next to each other on two walls. There was an ensuite bathroom, 3 sofa chairs and a coffee table. The bed and mattress were very comfortable. The mattress felt like a memory foam mattress and was firm enough that you wouldn’t anything but the mattress. Each bed also has an electrical socket, but no privacy light or privacy curtain. The latter two are not show stoppers for me.
The ensuite was one of those with raised edges for the boundary with curtains to close off the area. The bathroom was very clean and was also cleaned every day. Liquid hand soap was provided as well as a medium sized towel for each guest.
The hostel also had a courtyard with chairs and tables, which also doubled up as a hangout area for the owner and guests. The courtyard is beautiful, filled with flowers, trees and plants, all semi-landscaped. If you’re nice, the owner can even rustle up some breakfast or coffee for you.
Overall, I had an awesome stay. The owner was so nice and the facilities were excellent. I would happily recommend Hostel David to any visitor to Mostar.
